My bottles say it is produced and packed in Italy by Compagnia Almentare Italianna but distributed in US by Fine Italian Food out of Illinois

yes.. if you want some of the truffles to be on the food. If you don't want the "bits" then don't shake. The oil tastes the same either way.

Q: I'd like to give this as a gift. What kind of packaging do the bottles come in?

Excellent packaging! Each bottle is inside of a structured charcoal colored foam so there is no concern of breakage. Then they are covered with a thick matching foam with an egg crate type side that is down to protect the jars. The first thing I thought when I got them was, 'Wow these would make an awesome gift!' Cool bottles too! Very pleased with the presentation. Can't wait to use them!
