Mega Construx Pokemon Totodile Vs. Snubbull

Pokemon themed set compatible with Lego. Not totally to the quality of lego but it’s of a decent standard and the Pokemon theming is a big hit with my kids, particularly my 8 year old boy. This set is a battle theme of two Pokemon and was easy enough for him to make following the instructions and then makes a good display on his shelf with others from this range

In this Mega Bloks Construx Pokemon Set you get to build the characters of Totodile (water pokemon) and Snubbull (fairy pokemon - yes, really, I had to look that one up) and a background for them to interact. The set has 119 pieces and the age recommendation is for 6+ due to containing very small parts. (Avoid if you have a child who likes to insert small objects in their nose and ears). We made the set in about an hour.Although I found the instructions easy enough to follow - you should have no problems if you've used Lego or similar sets in the past - the pieces don't come in numbered bags, so we ended up tipping everything out and sorting out the pieces we needed for the bit we were building. In a way, this was more fun. The colour matching between the picture instructions and the blue bricks of the Totodile background weren't as clear as they could be - though as soon as my mum said "Isn't this the bit you're looking for?" It was obvious.My 6-year old found some of the pieces difficult to snap / push together, and when you're adding new bits some of the bits you've already put together drop off.The pokemon characters are reasonably sturdy after construction, though our Snubbull keeps losing one of his feet. Both background pieces have an action movement when they are completed which is fun. There is quite a lot of playability in the set after it's been made. We made this set whilst on holiday and the Snubbull did go missing - eventually found under the sofa after a few days of "Does anybody know where the pink pokemon is?" - being only a couple of inches tall they are quite easy to misplace.Overall - great present for the Pokemon fan. Good to build and play with after building.

Really like the set - the pieces are teeny so kids may need help but once built they are fun to play with. £15 a little pricey but you are paying for the Pokemon name I guess. Big fans and we'll buy more.

Yes lots of small pieces...But a few larger ones too!Mention Pokemon to my Grandson and his eyes light up!...(He loves the TV series!)As for the age Guidance being 6yrs old my grandson is 3 and three quarters and he managed to fit some of the pieces together (With a little guidance!) without either swallowing or getting pieces stuck up his nose/ears etcThis is a great set and is very reasonably priced ..Making it a perfect little stocking filler for your kiddie!

I'm generally wary of building blocks that aren't Lego - they're usually of such poor quality that any supposed saving is a false economy. Mega Construx - seemingly a re-branding of the Lego compatible Mega Bloks -gets very close to nailing it.If you need a short review, then my nine-year-old gives this an emphatic 'good' rating! I'll go a bit more in-depth below, if you want.The material is of quite high quality, though the mouldings aren't as sharp, in some cases. In one case a tile slightly overhung a lower block, when it ought to have been completely flush. Some of the pieces are indistinguishable from the main brand and seem to lock together very well. Other pieces have a sharp, unfinished feel to the edges.There are a few novel pieces that other manufacturers don't produce, so you can increase the number of parts, if you're a collector. Most of the novel parts make up the two Pokemon, which are fairly good little models. Unfortunately, one of the pieces seems to be missing, namely one of Snubbull's four ears.The diorama has a couple of action features, so that the two Pokemon can battle. I'm not sure that these are so great; Snubbull is supposed to jump but kind of just flops over, while Totodile is on a spring-loaded turntable and does a sort of spin.

This two-character Pokemon ‘Mega Construx’ set, aimed at age 6 and above, took a bit of making but was worth the effort. There are 119 pieces, separated into 5 sensibly organised bags, and guided by 34 image-based sets of instructions. As usual with Mega Construx, the directions are easy to dicipher and follow.It is of course essential to treat the pieces carefully and keep the bags of blocks separate, and safe, until they are required. This discipline is a good one for a child to learn if they are interested in detailed construction kits.The end result is quite satisfying, and there is fun to be had launching Snubbull from the platform in the direction of Totidile. Overall a good quality set and worth the patience it takes to build the end product.

Super fun toy the two young boys are loving this!! Quality made already had hours of fun playing with this seems built to last very good toy.
