Clear Ballistics 10% Ballistic Gelatin by The Lbs, Replaces 10% Gelatin Solution, Synthetic Gelatin

Used this to make some ultrasound simulators. I've used sugar free gelatin and silicone as well so far. This melts in the oven but it stinks up your whole house when you do. Super hard to get bubbles out of which is a real pain for doing ultrasound work. Had to leave it in the oven for hours to get it to a truly liquid state and even then all I could do was escort the bubbles to the least important corner. Was super clear fortunately for the practice gels that I wanted to be clear so that was nice. For the opaque ones it was a pain. I tried using metamucil (which worked great for the sugar free gelatin and silicone previously) but through some sort of reaction this caused a ton of micro bubbles forcing me to waste that batch. So I switched to talcum foot powder which worked much better. I also tried food coloring and this didn't work at all so I had to use Silc-Pig silicone pigment from ReynoldsAM. A tiny drop of this stuff will pigment a huge batch of silicone but I found this ballistics gel to require much more pigment. Was still able to get it to work just took a bunch. Any shapes I put in with wood exuded a bunch of air initially as well. By the 3rd or 4th time I guess all either all the air had come out or the oils had sealed the wood but it was a real pain at first. I've never had that problem with gelatin or silicone. Still it was nice to be able to make permanent models for so cheap. Plus the super clear effect was really nice.

Great product. Not temperature dependent and won't grow bacteria for long term storage.
