Bit of A lie, but a good game.
First of all, i'd like to say the game includes a little lie. Where are the new weopons? Theres less!! The high defination pack makes the guns LOOK new but there not. Secondly, no new aliens. High def pack makes to look like new aliens, but really there the same. But under the lies, lies a good game, if a little short. These are my scores of Half-Life Blue Shift.Sound: 9/10. Groans, screechs and alien talk are in there somewhere.Graphix: 8/10 (10/10 with high defination pack.) Enourmous facility with cogs, sparks and dead bodies.Lifespan: 5/10 Too short.Gameplay: 9/10. More or less the same, but it feels like you admit more 'autority' around the compound.I would have given this game a 5/5 but I bought it just to discover some lies and quite a short game. But, I enjoyed it!

Bit of a disapointment
Half-life was a cracking game. So was Opposing force, a little shorter maybe, but the extra wepons and baddies made up for it. You may be disapointed with blue shift, then. Contrary to the box, there are NO new weapons or aliens, unless the box means the update which makes the weapons + aliens look better. I compleated the game in hours. It might have taken no-pros a bit longer, but the original half-life took weeks, pro or not. The game is plotted good however, and the new levels are okay I suppose (I thought "zen" was really good in comparison to the other "zen" levels in previous games). Just be warned, this isn't what you will expect at all...

Half the life of the others and twice as bad.
The original half-life arrived in our shops a full year late, yet it was well worth the wait, the game is simply is the best first person shooter that ever graced a gaming platform. Opposing force was a welcomed add-on which gave the half-life universe a different perspective with some great new weapons and improved AI. However, having bought Blueshift simply because of the 'half-life' label, i was bitterly dissapointed. The game offers nothing new; to say it is too short is an understatement, i completed this game in two hours and was actually shocked to see the end credits. There are FEWER weapons and less enemies with no real test on the gamers behalf. I honestly believe that i have been cheated out of my money simply because of the name. If you are a half-life fan, like i am, dismiss this title and avoid it like the plague. Let us hope that the geniuses at Sierra and Valve finally come up with a half-life follow up that offers the fan something original and storyline to match so that we can finally play a game you could be happy to call 'half-life2'.

Not as great as they say.
Okay first things first, this game is alright providing you install the high definition pack its got great grafics and new weapons skins and sounds. but there is a dark side the game is short, and i mean REALLY short! Its about half the size of opposing force, which is probaly why its cheap, its more of a add-on pack with a free mini game that comes with it. I used to own it then after 3 hours i completed it! 2 days later i sold it to my mate who has the other half lifes and guess what.... they used to be mine! I dont hold a grudge against the half life series i love em... well the first one anyway and the second is cool but blue shift is a bit of a crude game!

smashing game but quite short
this episode of the half life series is pretty darn good. First off the grafix are super and with the HD even better all of the weapons are great and the character design is good. The only thing that lets this game down is that you can finish it to quickly but other than that this is a great game for any person who has played half life get it.

Good add on for a great game
Good add on for a great game. I liked the story and the perspective. The ending was more rewarding than many HL games IMO.

Good but TOO short
I got a copy of this game the day it was released and when i started it i thought it was going to be great, and it was until i completed it about two and a half hours later. This is really for the true Half-Life fans who want the whole collection of all games. The graphics were pretty cool but it was far too short (shame on you developers). If it was quite a bit longer this game would be a good rival for the orriginal but because of its miserable length i cannot give it anymore than 3 stars

Sooo promising..............
It was all going perfectly. I'd been going for maybe four hours and was very impressed - the guns look better, the enemies looked better, the gameplay itself was top-notch. I'd found the scientist I was looking for and we'd hatched a clever escape plan.I went through the teleporter that would lead me to the outside world. I thought it would have been needless to say that there'd be a problem and I'd be accidentally taken to Xen or somewhere, so it was little surprise when Dr. Rosenburg told me that there'd been complications and I was quickly dragged away from freedom. So I arrived in Xen, all set to carry on with what had been a fantastic game, when I was moved back to black Mesa (for a nice little scene that'll remind you nostalgically of the original), and then again back to the outside world. I was then told I was free - I'd made it!My first thought was "Er...what?", then I thought - "hold on, there's not been a boss yet! I can't be over! Maybe theres some levels outside of the Black Mesa complex now! Great!"How wrong I was. That was the end. A leisurely stroll through a transporter and I was home free. My heart sank as the credits flashed up. I waited eagerly to see if levels continued after these credits for some reason. No such luck. The game is superb for a few hours, then it ends with a whimper, not a bang, and you're left in disbelief - so much so that you come online to check whether you missed something and that wasn't actually the end. It's a good take on the Black Mesa story and fun to play, but be prepared for an abrubt end - when you least expect it.
