Great book! Sections are organized by locations/category: city/town, farm, careers, family, shapes, etc. which I find helpful. It helps provide context to the words and the opportunity for children to see how different words are connected to one another. Also, most of the pictures are real pictures, so kids will be able to see real word objects along with some illustrations. Helpful notes for parents at the beginning as well. Great book for children to learn more about the world and words around them and as a reference as they progress into their reading and writing. I’ve seen children return to this book to confirm spelling and determining best words to use in their writing.

1000 Useful Words is a great book for introducing little ones to the English language.The book is a large hardcover book with sturdy and robust paper pages. They can definitely be ripped, this isn't a board book, but the pages are heavier than a traditional novel.The book contains lots and lots of subjects... from people, to places, to animals, to cars, to items in a house... the list goes on and on. Each page is colorful and uses illustrations and / to photos. Each item is labeled with clear text making it easy to read for small children.All in all... a great book to build a little one's vocabulary.

Every DK book for toddlers from the tabbed books to this one is a great hit with my 1 year old who has learnt to recognize many animals and household items.The book shows a combination of real life objects overlaying onto very realistic cartoon background, overall it is realistic looking.Great for Montessori learning

There’s a picture for every word, and page after page of actual words used in every day language. We ”read” this with our 2 year old every day, and her vocabulary has really blossomed

this is a excellent book.it has various pics that are realistic which help .lots of areas are covered in terms of things a child sees in day to day life.well put together book

I love that it removes a lot of the thought out out what subjects and topics to go over with my little one. It has a ton of variety of things to cover that I may not have naturally thought of on my own.
