Love Me to Death: A Novel of Suspense (Lucy Kincaid Novels Book 1)

"Love Me To Death"
Love Me To Death is the first book I've read by Allison Brennan. I was under the impression this was a new series. The author indicated that this was a new series about Lucy Kincaid. Nevertheless, there were characters from the previous series in Love Me To Death. I found this confusing for the first several chapers.Lucy Kincaid was kidnapped six-years ago and brutally raped. (Fear No Evil) She killed one of her rapists, and his cohort. Roger Morton was incarcerated. Roger plea bargained with the feds for his cooperation. He only served six years and wasn't allowed to leave Colorado. He was found in DC murdered execution style. For the last six-years, Lucy had tried to move on with her life. All Lucy dreamed about was to be an FBI agent. She applied for the FBI and was waiting to hear if she was accepted. Her resume is impeccable. She volunteers for Women and Children First (WCF). Her job is to go on the internet to chat rooms and lure rapists and pedophiles paroles into police traps. She sets the times and places for the meetings, then informs police volunteers at WCF who would be waiting for the paroles to arrive.Cody Lorenzo Lucy's ex-boyfriend is a police detective in DC. He suspects that Lucy is setting up the pedophiles to be murdered. Lucy too is concerned, because in eight cases she worked on, all eight parolees were murdered vigilante style. Sean Rogan and Lucy decided to conduct their own independent investigation.Sean Rogan and Lucy's brother Patrick are business partners in a private security company. Lucy and Sean are attracted to each other. They decided to keep their relationship slow paced. Lucy has a feeling that she is being watched. However, Lucy and Sean are both being watched by a cold hearted sadistic killer. The plot was suspenseful and enjoyable. The author did an excellent job with all the characters. I liked how the relationship between Lucy and Sean blossomed throughout the book. I thought, FBI Agent Noah Armstrong was a hard-liner until the end.

Exciting Start to a New Series
Woo Hoo! After reading my first book by Allison Brennan and seeing that the characters continue in subsequent books, I knew I had to go back and start at the beginning before I could touch the Lucy Kincaid series. At first I looked at that like 12 books I had to "get through" before I could read Lucy's series but the 4 trilogies are so amazing, that now having read the first Lucy book, I'm already anticipating catching up too soon.Lucy's story was one of my favorites so I was glad to have her back, 6 years later, to see her moving on with her life. This book is suspenseful and riveting. My heart aches for Lucy and whatever strife she goes through. I'm also glad to be back with Dillon and always Hans. I love Hans and I want him to have his own love story!!!! Sean is a great character and I hope he's around for a long time. It's always fun to meet new characters like Noah and Abigail and also have characters I've loved since the beginning. Allison Brennan is amazing at character development and getting into the minds of people, criminals and victims alike.I thought this book was exciting and well-written and would recommend all of Ms. Brennan's books to anyone who likes crime novels with a bit of romance. For those who think it's too violent or graphic, I would say that these books are crime/mysteries first with a little romance, not the other way around.

Great character development
Lucy and Sean are on a working vacation. They need some alone time and agree to help a friend find out who is vandalizing their property during their getaway. There little project turns into more when they discover a dead body while exploring a nearby mine.I enjoyed the development of the main characters although Lucy was a little annoying for a short time. The criminal element in this story are truly evil people. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Disappointed
I bought this book because it was recommended based off of another series I liked. It was really not about the main character. Sure she did some things but the man she came involved with was the person the book was about. He leaded the investigation. I’m making my self finish it but dissatisfied with the misleading synopsis. I figure it’s old and was written in a time of harlequin romances where they wanted a man to take charge. And play down womens role. While I don’t mind he is helping investigate she so far is just sitting back and watching him do the work.

I hope series gets better...
I usually try to only write good reviews but this book was just so very frustrating. I've enjoyed other books by this author so I really hope I would enjoy this more. However, both the characters and story line were long-winded. There was way too much lecturing about criminology that MAYBE someone who has NEVER read a mystery might appreciate. One minute the character would lecture the reader about mundane criminal psychology/profiling but then their character would do something ridiculously stupid in the plot. Very inconsistent. I commute so I also purchased the audiobook and it was nearly impossible to keep up with because the story had a weak plot and far too many characters. I enjoy reading a series, so I will give the 2nd book a chance, but if it is anything like the first, I doubt I will make it through the entire book. Maybe the first book was like bad tv pilot that gets better. Fingers crossed!

Physical product 0⭐️, content of book 5⭐️
Loved this book so purchased for a friend & the paperback that arrived was in horrible shape. I’m talking pen marks & notes written all over the book, torn pages, stains, etc.

Ride along with Lucy you won't be disappointed
If you love thrillers you will love these. After reading one I purchased the entire series and read them in order, the only other series I have sought out older books and read them in sequence is Lee Child's Jack Reacher and this series is as enjoyable.

Great thriller
I didn't realise I'd started reading these out of sequence, but I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. A great thriller, a plot that's twisty but believeable, and very relatable characters.

Fast ride with strong heroine
Hard to put down. Gritty with a devious villain. Lucy Kincaid is a strong character and part of me wished I had read the first novel with her. But her backstory is well-integrated and Love Me To Death works on its own.

This book grabbed me from the first page. The characters are all believable and you feel their emotions while you are gripped by the story. I was up until the wee hours devouring the pages. Can't wait to get started on the second book in the series!
Anyone who enjoys fast paced action and a gripping mystery will love this book. An FBI winner for fans. Enjoy!
