Lovely sound and feel!
I love the sound! I bought this for my kids to play. This is a perfect size and volume for them. It is well constructed and sturdy for handling. It has a wonderful feel. The surface has a thinly applied protective coating. You can still feel the grain and the dips and holes. Some of the reviews complained of the speed at which the filler falls. This can be controlled by how quickly/slowly you turn the stick. (see video).Couldn't ask for more esp. considering the price.Pros:Sounds wonderfulPerfectly audible, but not too loudMulti- sensory delightNatural grainy feel, but not splinteryGood size for kidsPersonal controlCons:The finish isn't the prettiest: you can see a mily substance pooled in the pitting. I have contacted the company to find out what the finish is. I would like my youngest to be able to handle it and it will definitely be going into her mouth. WIll update when I hear back from them.

Does Size Matter?
Somehow I didn't connect the stock photo with the reality of how small 10" really is.You don't get the resonance and stamina of a longer stick, but it sounds nice for what it is.It is otherwise EXACTLY everything an authentic, lovely, natural rain stick should be.Very durable, thank you!

Limited use but has possibilities for percussion work
As a percussion instrument, this is best for very delicate work, perhaps working with a single other player such as an acoustic guitar or flute. What's unique about this is it can be used as a combination shaker and "rain stick" (although it's not much rain as people have pointed out). It's got a very small shake sound but you can combine with the rain effect to get a sustained note to create some interesting grooves. For instance in a 4/4 slow tempo song - shake it for the first three beats and then turn it down for one beat of rain stick. You will definitely need to mic it and experiment with how to hold it so the microphone will pick it up if you plan to perform with it - otherwise it will only work for late night campfires and living room jams.

Perfect for classroom
My students were enamored with this genuine rainstick. I couldn’t believe it was so affordable to show one before we made our own rainsticks in art class.

My students love this as I use it to get their attention with circletime activities.
I use this in my classroom. Whoever is holding it gets to talk at circle time.

Excellent rain stick
Well made, sounds nice. 10 inches is a little short if you want longer rain sounds but works well when students as young as 5 years old are using it. It has stood up to the test of accidentally getting dropped and hit into chairs so far (music classroom K-8).
