Exceeded expectations
As a new Scoutmaster, I needed a lightweight, three-season sleeping bag that I could take camping, whether it was backpacking or car camping, for a night or a week. I looked at several higher end bags but didn't want to spend a fortune. I took a chance on this bag and have not been disappointed. I was skeptical of the temperature rating (down to -10 degrees Fahrenheit), but after using this bag for a week in the Sierra Nevadas, I am impressed. The temperatures did not drop nearly that far, but in the mid-30s I had to strip down to my underwear and loosen all the drawstrings (this thing can really button up tight) to keep from sweating at night. I am confident that this bag could easily keep me warm down near zero degrees if necessary. I am 6 feet tall and fairly narrow--this bag left me plenty of wiggle room in all directions. It is lightweight and, as other reviewers have noted, can compact to about the size of a basketball in the included compression sack. On the downside, I think I popped a stitch in the compression sack trying to see just how small I could get it. The only other negative is that this bag has regular down rather than "dry down," so it will not perform as well if it gets wet. But based on my experience so far I think this bag would be hard to beat for the price.

Poor representation
This bag is not very good. I have used it now for about 8 months, temps varying from 20 degrees F to 70F. I wouldn't use this bag in any temp below 35. I was wearing two long sleeve shirts, a fleece jacket, thermal pants, wool socks, beenie and was cold on 30 degree night. I think the bag should at least come within 10 degrees of it's rating and this does not. The down seems to really clump up in spots and doesn't really loft up like a quality down bag does. I store it hanging so the down shouldn't be smashed but the insulation is just mediocre at best. Probably will suit most people for early fall and late spring, a bit too warm for summer. I also think the weight is a bit much, compressing this bag is still like carrying around a basketball in your pack. I think for the price, the features, size, weight etc. I'd rather buy something from rei on sale. I have the rei flash sleeping bag that's rated for 29 degrees and I can tell you for sure that I was warmer in the flash than this bag in the same exact temperature. Plus when I put the two bags next to each other the flash lifts up much higher and the down in that bag feels like I'm sleeping in a warm cloud. This bag feels like I'm laying in clumps of cotton balls that I can't get to spread out. Spend the extra 100 or sometimes less bucks and buy yourself a decent down bag. I pair the flash with a bag liner and achieve more warmth than this bag for a fraction of the weight and space in my pack.

WOW
I loved this sleeping bag- I used it in the cold mountains of montana all the way to wisconsin- I would have kept using it forever if an animal had not died in it and made it unusable. Great Great Great sleeping bag. Does not pack down very small so would not recommend for backpacking or anything but this will keep you warm even in the snow.

nice and warm for a summer's night of camping.
I used it at bible camp on top of a mattress in a cabin. It is very comfortable and warm. It was in the 70's at night... I like to be very warm, so I loved it. I wish it was fleet on the inside because the nylon is slippery, but it was great. I used a standard sized pillow so I haven't tried the hood.. that would have too toasty for our situation. It is easy to stuff back in the carry bag.. super light! it is water resistant.. I spilled my bottle on the top and it didn't soak through.

Nice bag but not as small as stated.
This is a very good quality sleeping bag. I used it on a recent canoe trip in the northwoods and it got down into the low 50's at night and it kept me comfortable without having to wear any extra clothing. I'm not sure how low the temps can get and still be comfortable but it's at least good down into the 40's from what I can tell. The only complaint that I have is that it doesn't compress down to the size stated in the ad. The smallest I could get it down to was about 9" dia. x 8" tall but that was small enough to fit into my backpack which was what mattered to me.

Used this bag to go backpacking in Michigan's Porcupine Mountains in September anticipating some colder weather which didn't happen. Did see temperatures in the 50's at night and the bag performed perfectly as I am a cold sleeper so the extra warmth was really nice. All the components of the bag worked really well and it packed down for easy and light backpacking activity. The value of this bag is for what it delivers is excellent and I'd highly recommend this brand and product to anyone looking for a warmer bag at a price point that is much more affordable than most at this temperature range.

Decent quality, warm, light enough for a couple days' journey...and the price.
Decent quality, warm, light enough for the price. And what a great price! As a 'fair-weather' backpacker I was skeptical when my non-backpacking wife saw this deal. She bought my son and me one each. So far we have used them a couple of times down to 30° F and we were too warm. (Terrible in a hammock, my issue.) They compress well and I have been careful to not over stress the compression straps as other reviewers have done. So far, 7 nights and no issues. I'd buy these again - I cannot find a better value.

Great bag, disappointed in the storing/compression of bag.
The sleeping bag was incredibly warm, durable and exactly what I was looking for. I was disappointment in the compression of the item. It had said that it would compress into a rather small (basketball) size. However, the first time I went to the compress the item two of the straps broke off. The sleeping bag was perfect, but it does not get as small as advertised/the straps on the compression device break easily.
