Psalms Volume 1 (The NIV Application Commentary)

Great commentary. Get it, you will love it.
Wow, Great commentary. Easy to understand, direct to the point, and explains many details that normally aren't known unless someone points them out, like: David didn't write all the Psalms, there are several more written by others.

Damaged boik
Excellent commentary. The cover was loose from the book.

Too Much Sugar for a Dime
Great commentary for the book of Psalms; however, it only covers the first 72 chapters. As last I heard, there was no Psalms Volume 2 commentary.Unless you are an in-depth teacher of a Sunday School class, this book is likely to be βtoo much sugar for a dime.β

Great Study
I used this volume for personal study of one psalm per day.Mr. Wilson's book gave me better insight into the historical connotation of Hebrew words (for example the ideas of justice, righteousness, vindication, deliverance...) with the benefit of practical application; the significance of the psalms to the pre-New Testament generations; and a sense to the order and grouping of the psalms that was not apparent to me.Great study. I highly recommend it.

I am using this to help me with the story of Psalms
I am using this book to help me with my study of psalms. It is a big help but I must admit it isn't one of my favorites. I can't find a volume 2 so I can finish my study.

did his homework
The book is easy to understand for the most part and the author did his homework. As with any commentary, it is wise to compare his thoughts with the Bible itself. I did enjoy his 'Contemporary Significance' section included with every Psalm discussion.

Essential Reading
Most Commentaries on the Psalms are a bit thin in terms of content, which makes this one stand out. There is plenty of good material on each of the Psalms with each Psalm dealt with in the series' trademark divisions of Original Meaning, Bridging Contexts and Contemporary Significance. This volume is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand of preach on the Psalms. The only negative comment i would make is that we have been waiting a decade for volume 2...come on Zondervan get a move on!
