Heat plates don't touch without great force
EDIT: I can't recommend this at all. I got a replacement flat iron, and it has the exact same problem - plates don't make uniform contact when the user applies normal pressure. I'm returning everything and asking for a refund. I'm so unhappy that I bought this flat iron and can't imagine wanting to use it ever again.--------------Note: I did not use this on human hair.I bought this flat iron for restoration of a child's 18-inch (American Girl/Our Generation/My Life As) doll that had previously burned hair, and my selection was primarily due to the iron's low temperature options (too high heat will melt the hair completely off; lower heat settings can allow the plastic to melt and re-bond to repair the burned hair). Overall it got the job done, but I had to go slowly and my hand and wrist are still hurting two days later from having to squeeze the curved iron very hard to get the plates to uniformly align across the doll's hair. Most flat irons I've used in the past have heat plates that touch on the entire surface when the iron is closed with normal hand pressure, and you can choose to squeeze harder or lighter depending on the hair and style you're trying to achieve. This flat iron's plates only touched on the front edge using typical pressure, which made one VERY hot streak of heated hair and the rest of the hair fell out of the other side of the clamp or didn't have enough pressure for the hair to touch both plates at the same time. I suspect the stylized arched shape of the flat iron is causing this, and I have to squeeze the (REALLY hot) middle of the arch very tightly for the plates to touch to make the flat iron function appropriately, even with no hair between them.Pros:- This worked extremely well on wet doll hair, and the hair appeared to be completely dry and smooth at the end of the flat ironing process. When the hair got too dry, it was so thin that it melted easily, so I kept the working hair wet.- Iron heats up quickly initially and for all subsequent temperature interval increases. I was very pleased at how quickly this heated up each time I increased the heat with one touch to the single-button operation.- 1-hour safety shutoff worked correctly (my project took a long time), but there is no audio warning signal, and I ended up working with diminishing heat until I noticed the iron had turned off. Thankfully, as I stated above, it gets back up to the right temp very quickly.- This iron didn't generate any static in the doll's hair, and left the repaired hair feeling soft and silky.- This comes with a nice looped velcro cord management strap, and I don't even get that on my higher end flat irons. I can wrap and unwrap this cord strap many times very easily, and the strap stays on the cord instead of having to chase around a strap or tie that falls off the cord.- This comes with a (possibly heat protective?) glove, but it was too short for my fingers and the wrist closure wasn't tight enough to hold it stretched down on my wrist, so the palm constantly retreated back up between my knuckles and made it hard to move my fingers independently. If you've got smaller hands, this is probably a nice addition, but it didn't work for me.- This comes with a very basic plastic-y feeling velveteen(?) travel bag to protect the iron from scratches while traveling or being stored. It is certainly not heat resistant, so make VERY sure your iron is completely cooled before placing it in the bag or it could melt or possibly worse. I haven't personally used the bag yet, so I can't say whether the iron itself AND cord both fit in the bag at the same time, but it's a nice add-on idea. It appears long and wide enough to contain at least the cold iron.Cons:- Temperature options are the set values shown in the photos, and the iron does not allow me to specify my desired temperature with any kind of dial. This is very similar in functionality to electronic temperature options on traditional clothing irons.- Temperature settings are listed only in Celsius, and cannot toggle between that and Fahrenheit for US consumers. If you misread the temperature units of measurement, you're going to have a bad time.- The stylized arch design of this flat iron made it prone to rolling over whenever I set it down on a flat surface. I highly recommend using this only on high heat-friendly surfaces in a space clear of other objects.- Tangles get caught in the divot on the lower heat plate, and can stretch hairs or rip them out if you're moving quickly.Overall, the flat iron worked for my project with great effort on my part, but I do NOT recommend it to others unless they can get one that has plates that touch all the way across without having to nearly crush the iron the entire time you plan to use it. I'm pretty disappointed with this one specifically, and if I reach out and can exchange this for an iron with correct plate contact, I will update this review with more details about a more functional version of this flat iron.

Best thing you could do for your hair!!
This iron has literally saved my hair! A previous iron costing almost 8 times the price had damaged and fried my hair!! This one, and I believe it’s because it’s infrared has transformed my hair and brought it to a condition I never had before! It’s silky and smooth and I’m thrilled with it. I have already purchased another one!
