Koolpad, KPADC36, Grill Mat or Burner Fire Protector Pad, 36 Inch

I placed this on the lawn and put my metal fire pit directly on it according to the instructions. My pit has about 6 inches between the ground and the bottom of the pit. We had a single 3 hour (small) fire and when i picked everything up in the morning I found a 2 ft diameter ring of dead lawn and a 3 inch hole in the reflective material that was supposedly going to radiate the heat back up. Maybe it works if you have more than 6 inches between the ground and the bottom of your pit or if you are trying to protect a patio or deck - but it is completely useless with my pit on the lawn.

I use these with my raised firepit on my wooden deck. It never really gets hot. Very pleased.I still make sure all the coals are extinguished before leaving the firepit. Just being cautious.

Burned 4 small Pieces of wood from a bundle of firewood I purchased and gave me about 1.5 hr of burning time. Instantly started to burn my lawn. I have about 6 inches of distance from bottom of fire pit to the mat. I now have a perfect circle of yellow grass in the middle of my lawn.

Koolpad was better than not having anything, but didn’t protect the grass and the pad itself was burned. Cool idea, and maybe if one stacked 3 or 4 of them grass would be protected. I didn’t expect the product to actually burn after only about 60 minutes of exposure to a fire pit 6” above the pad. Pictures tell it all.

Has been protecting our deck from our new Solo Stove bonfire pit for over a month now. Checked yesterday and deck looks untouched!! Great product. Thanks for the peace of mind!

It works under a burner and boiling pot also. Exactly what I wanted it for.
