One needs to take into consideration that this product is rather fragile, yet is most unique and beautiful. I ordered three. Two were to be given as Christmas gifts and the third I was giving to myself. Sadly, when they arrived, one of the three shells was broken. So, the broken one would have to be mine and was returned to Amazon without asking for a replacement.One sea urchin light will go to my daughter who is a certified scuba diver and loves being up close and personal with small sea creatures. I felt it would be perfect for her. The other was given as a gift exchange at my work Christmas party. The co-worker that received it absolutely adored it.After SeaThings was informed that one was being returned to Amazon as damaged, they contacted me and offered to replace it at no charge and would not affect my reimbursement from Amazon. That was certainly a nice surprise and I expressed my appreciation that they were willing to do that just for me.When the product arrived on Dec. 22 directly from SeaThingz, I found not just one, but two Sea Urchin Lights and a note inside a really cute sand dollar and starfish designed card expressing that the owner takes great pride in their products and want others to be able to enjoy their uniqueness and beauty as well. One light was, of course, the same as the one I ordered on Amazon. The other was a "soon to be released" green sea urchin light which is just as appealing and I am using it in my master bath because the color scheme is green, also.I must say I have never encountered a business willing to go beyond a level of excellency of service as this one is willing to do. The company and the product gets more than 5 stars from me. It would be great if the talented creator of these lights could make them work with a remote control, too!

I found this at Christmas time and thought it would be a fun grab bag gift for our annual Christmas Day gift exchange. The theme this year was Beach items. It was packaged perfectly and marked fragile but when I went to put the battery in it crumbled in my hands. 😢 I figured this was my problem and went out and purchased another gift. Wish it had worked out but very delicate. Good luck if you purchase this.

I received this today and already somewhat disappointed. The glass base and the shell are beautiful. I just wish the shell was large enough to cover the white plastic battery base so it didn’t show. If you are considering purchasing, just be prepared the shell size may not look like it fits the base. See photo.

Was very intrigued, ordered two. I had previously examined/dissected dead sea urchin specimens while getting my degree in biology. I always found the radial symmetry of such organisms beautiful and intriguing. Just another example of the beauty found in nature.The items came in a a large box (6"x6") which was used as a over pack for a smaller box that contained the actual sea urchin shell tea light in a foam packing. The holder/base was packed in separate foam pack outside the inner box. This all came in a larger Amazon box with standard cushion packing. Every care possible was taken to ensure the item arrived undamaged.Upon opening an unpacking the actual sea urchin shell is rather small, no more then 2" or so diameter. The two I have had a slight color variation, one being slightly violet/lavender in color and the other being more white. Both were nicely defined with the radial lines of pores showing. The light is glued to the bottom and features an easy to use switch and snap open battery compartment. Upon activation the unit gives off a soft glowing light which, when placed in the base/holder gives a pleasing purple glow.This is a marvelous item for adding atmosphere to a special occasion or for everyday use as an ambiance light on your dinner table. One does need to be careful, marine exoskeletons of this creature are very delicate and prone to breakage. One should take care to keep this item out of the reach of children and pets. To me it brings back the wonder that can be found in the way nature works to create life in it's variety. Too bad with the current climate upheavals soon we may lose such wonder forever.

It looks great. I like it in a dark room. Personally, I think it's a nice decoration for events or setting the mood. I wouldn't use it as a night light like I thought I would. Those 70 hours of battery life go fast unless you plan on turning it off at some point. Like if you are one of those people who wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom it could be useful if you turn it off on your way back to bed. The batteries can be found on Amazon at a pretty good price though if you don't mind replacing them. I don't want to mislead anyone. The light is not as bright as most night lights. I guess what I'm saying is, if you're looking for a night light you might want to pass on this.

I PURCHASED ONE OF THESE LAST YEAR AND LOVED IT, IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL. I DECIDED TO PURCHASE TWO ADDITIONAL ONES TO PUT IN OUR GUEST ROOMS. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED AS THE TWO I MOST RECENTLY PURCHASED ARE NOT LIKE MY FIRST ONE. THE COLOR OF THE SHELL IS ALMOST WHITE (I REALIZE THEY'RE FROM REAL SEA URCHINS, SO COLOR MAY VARY), BUT THESE TWO DO NOT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE PICTURE, NOR LIKE THE ORIGINAL ONE I ORDERED LAST YEAR. ALSO, THE SHELL IS TOO SMALL FOR THE CONTAINER IT SITS IN!I KNOW I COULD HAVE RETURNED THEM, BUT NEVER GOT AROUND TO IT, SO GUESS IT'S MY FAULT FOR BEING STUCK WITH THEM. THEY ARE SO BAD LOOKING, THAT I WON'T EVER USE THEM. I ONLY ORDERED ONE THE FIRST TIME TO SEE HOW IT LOOKED IN PERSON, BUT AFTER THIS, I'M SORRY I ORDERED THEM AT ALL.I BOUGHT THEM FROM SeaThingz, THROUGH AMAZON.
