A House in Sicily

This true story induced me to find out more about Sicily. What a history!Wish I could vacation at the Cuseni home…

I enjoyed yhe book so kuch yhat i made a reservation for September, 2021 to stay at this house.

Daphne takes a historical journey of Sicily in southern Italy that gave me a great understanding of my our family there and their customs about life, death, birth, and marriage.

This book was recommended by Overseas Adventure Travel, so I read it in order to prepare for an upcoming trip to Sicily. I liked the stories about real people who lived in Sicily, the historical facts and being able to get a feel for the kindness and generosity of the Sicilian people.

Because I am going to Sicily for 2 weeks I have bought quite a few books on the subject. I couldn't really get into this book, it was slow and I expected to be taken on a new experience like the author had by living there. More description of the people, food, customs and atmosphere was needed.

Such a wonderful read! I just didn't want to put it down and I definitely wanted the stories to continue. It transported me to a wonderful place and time and would highly recommend it to others. Thinking of going to Sicily? This is a must read. I can't wait to go experience in person.

Once I recovered from my extreme jealousy (IMAGINE INHERITING THIS EXQUISITE HOUSE IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AREA OF SICILY!), I was able to enjoy the ride!The author must have been quite an extraordinary person, to have interwoven her life with those of the locals so affectionately.Her stories and descriptions of tha charming Sicilians - and visitors-who populated her world are heartwarming.A beautiful description of a disappearing world. "O Time, suspend thy flight!".
