Pilot Juice Retractable Premium Gel Ink Roller Ball Pens, Ultra Fine Point,-0.38mm-Blue Black Ink,-Value Set of 5

As of 2016 is my new favorite for a .38 mm pen. I find it to write smoother and finer than the Pilot G2 .38 mm (which was the only size of the G2 that I liked) and have been using for several years. I'm not completely sold on the Blue-Black color as my work requires Blue ink and this is dark (almost black) as where the G2 is a nicely shaded dark but very blue ink. I find the grip to be comfortable, and not interfering with my writing style or causing undue fatigue or soreness. I get no rattle from the clip during normal use as some have reported though if vigorously shaken it has a slight click. In fact like that it is spring loaded and thumb controlled as it will fit over a notebook cover easily and not become "sprung" to where it would then be useless for clipping to something smaller. These pens have a poly sticker affixed to them opposite the clip that is intended to remain as some adhesive will stay on the pen if detached (a little charcoal lighter fluid can remove that if you take it off like I did for this review).This pen is not a dressy pen, but is fine for technical use and in this scenario the sticker really is not much of a detraction, some may prefer it's display of the point size in a lime green accent, another swatch with the color of ink, a mix of English and Japanese letters and numbers, and a bar code.

Easy fluid wrighting

I like how fine the tip is and how quickly the ink dries. As a lefty, I usually dislike gel pens because of the smear as I write. However, the fine tip causes the ink to dry quickly so no more smearing. Good flow across the writing surface too. Will be buying again as needed.

The pen performs beautifully, but the blue/black ink is darker than I'd like. The fineness of the point is perfect and the ink delivers flawlessly.

Great pens, I've tried a lot of different styles and I love that these are retractable. I've bought other varieties of Pilot pens, but the caps disappear, which sometimes means the tips of the pens get bent and render them un-usable. My one issue is they are not 100% smear proof, but if you wait a few seconds after writing, the ink is fine. Overall happy with my purchase (the color is also perfect, a true blue-black as described), and will be buying again.

I’m a huge fan of ultra fine point pens and I’m rather picky about my pen choices too. This pen checks all the boxes for me; it has a nice fine point, it’s not too bulky in my hand, and writes smoothly.
