Wonderful for antiques
A fellow parishioner at our church collected early 18C American furniture, particularly that by Baltimore makers. She (or a maid) polished that diligently with Vernax. Her estate left several million dollars worth of this furniture to the Baltimore Museum of Art I don't know if they use it, but I certainly do. It has an odor of turpines which refresh the wood along with the bees wax. This dissipates soon enough. It always amazes me when folks become upset by odors but are willing to smear silicone on their furniture. Vernax is wonderful stuff. Do use it sparingly when you start to get a feeling for how to apply or you will be buffing forever.

Excellent for a deep clean
I used this to clean some real wood shutters and cabinets that had accumulated some "grunge" over years of kids and pets. The down side is your house will smell like you're planning an arson... For a while. The upside is that this product actually removes things like calcification deposits (from a hot water boiler in my kitchen that runs 24/7 and left white deposits NO product before had been able to touch)! I opened windows etc before I used it but a couple of the kids did say they felt light headed while I was using it. They aare teens now so they were able to tell me that after I stopped actively cleaning with it and removed the clothes I was using, that feeling left, but even after leaving for a few hours the strong smell was noticable when we returned. It's probably not something I would ever consider using as part of my regular cleaning regimen, but I will keep a bottle of it on hand for making quick work of the troubles that less caustic products can't touch. To me, it's worth the minor inconvenience. If you are sensative to odor, you may not agree.

Best wax I know of
Perfect for antiques. You may have to put the old elbow grease into it but it will be worth it. End up with a hard shine that nourishes the wood.

Fume warning on label
The product contains warnings about indoor use, which is remarkable since it is sold for use on indoor furniture. We returned it without opening it, because we did not want to use a toxic product in a house with small children.

I have an old home from the 1890's. Vernax Furniture Polish was recommended to me to use on the woodwork to create a natural luster. I applied it just as recommended on the can and am very pleased with the natural luster results.
