Best Fatwood Design (yeah I never thought about design and fatwood)
I love the breakapart slats. I bought this for the price and paid almost no attention to the discussion about how these were cut. But when I opened the package and handled a slat, and it just broke into nice easy to light thin pieces, I was so glad I bought these. With other fatwood shaped like kindling, I was always chopping it down to a thinner size (I like to use fatwood instead of paper to light my kindling rather than use fatwood as kindling) -- these just break without using a hatchet into the perfect size for starting a fire. It's extremely convenient.

can be used in very small quantities
had been using from orvis and llbean, orvis had trouble getting it a couple years ago and went to llbean last couple years, their boxes are 35 lbs and the pieces are large enough to split at least in half maybe more and a little hard to light sometimes, this stuff is wafer thin you can break it with your fingers and it lights very easy and 5 lbs more for about the same price

Great deal!
Totally wasn’t what I expected but turns out we like it better! It’s literally a box of kindling size wood perfect for starting fires!

Fast fire starting.
Whether outside in the fire pit, at a car camping fire or in the fireplace at home, these Atwood sticks make fire starting effortless.I've been using fat wood for a few decades, this product is my new goto

Smaller sticks than others
With these there is no need to split the sticks. They are much smaller and more uniform than other brands I've tried. They still work, and I don't have to spend time splitting them--which always makes me nervous about chopping off a finger.

Poor packaging, pieces slid out.
The wood itself is great, fatwood is a great option to get fires going quickly, however it would be great for it to arrive intact and sealed. These pieces are thin and can slip out of the box. The lack of care in packaging and the fact that there was very little tape overlap to actually hold the box shut really leaves a lot to be desired....

No better than kindling
This is NOT the same as the Better Woods Fatwood firestarter. It’s basically thin strip of wood that ignite (and last) the same as kindling or dried shingles. So disappointed. Now going to re-order the good firestarters from Better Woods

Very good fire starter
Have used Orvis and LL Bean but this is better on a number of countsBurns hotIs a better form factor - thin sheets - 2-3” wide and 5 or 6” long- only 1/16 - 1/8 thickUse less volume of stick to light a fireHighly recommend - reasonable cost
