Love this bike rack!
Awesome bike rack! Super quick and simple to put on, secure bike, and take off. Sturdy! Bike doesn't move while driving! Love!

Nice
I was concerned about the reliability of this bike mount due to a lot of the reviews butI personally had no issues with it. Took my husband about 15 minutes to install on my car. One thing I will note is that the holding cups do rotate while you're trying to mount the bike. Not a huge issue, just kind of annoying.Overall I am happy with the purchase, I would recommend.

Pre-installed seem Solid
I pre-mounted it on my 1989 Honda Civic Hatchback and it looks like it can be very secure. The key will be getting the straps tight, which can be done. It just can't slide side to side after installation. If loose the rack would eventual break a strap. I had a few friends evauate the installion and we all walk away feeling it will hold a bike securelyIt look It is nicely made and looks "bullet proof" but carefull intelligent installation is needed. The problem with the bad reviews you don't know if they installed the rack correctly. It seems the ones that failed, moved around too much. The Push button latch Broke immedatly when oppening up for the first time. It wasn't during installation I was just trying to get familiar how to do to install this rack on my car when it broke. I easily replace it with a bolt/nut which will be more secure. However folding the bike rack needs to have the bolt and nut taken off each time. Not hard.

The rack fit quite nicely on the back of the vehicle with little issue
I drive a Subaru 2016 Crosstrek. The rack fit quite nicely on the back of the vehicle with little issue. There is just enough room between the trunk button and license plate that the rack itself won't cover the plate. You will not be able to use the rear wipers when the rack is on and if you have a crosstrek with a spoiler do not get this rack. You will break the spoiler off. The hooks do not cause any damage to the car or paint however the bottom one is difficult to put on. I've found popping the trunk a bit and slipping the hook under is the easiest way. If you have a rearview camera the bike will block it a bit. I find putting the front wheel in front of the camera is the best way to go if you still want to use it. As for mounting the bike itself this is relatively easy. The straps are fairly easy to buckle and wrap around the bike. The bike is held safely away from the vehicle so no damage is done to either. The rack itself is easy to steal from the vehicle (all someone would need is a pair of scissors or knife to cut it off.) I would suggest leaving it in the vehicle when not in use. The rack is easy to set up. Folding it back down is the hard part. I just use the key to my bike lock to push in the little locks on the rack and this helps. The rack is easy to store within the vehicle and doesn't take up room in the trunk. I've driven with the rack over many rough roads/ potholes and the rack has remained in place with no slipping or loosening of the straps. I've had the chance to take it out on the highway up to speeds of 70mph. The rack held secure. There was a bit of resistance created by the by the bike but this was expected and there was no noticeable dip in the mgp.A quick summary:Pros:-Easy to set up-Holds secure in a variety of conditions-Keeps the bike from damaging the car-Doesn't damage the car itself-Great deal for the price-Gets your bike where it needs to goCons:-Can be difficult to fold up (fixed by keeping something that can push in the buttons handy)-Bike will block license plate-Bike can make it difficult to see through rearview camera.-Will not fit a crosstrek with spoiler-Cannot use rear wipersOverall this is a great bike rack. Especially for the price. It is very versatile in the vehicles it can fit. Best of all it gets the bike where it needs to go and does so safely. I would recommend this bike rack to others.

Super dodgy for trunk mount. Only accommodates very narrow top tube bikes.
I needed something that would schlep my bike around town for short trips. I have a Trek with a pretty standard, modern road bike frame. First issue is mounting to the car. Very sketchy. There is no padding between the metal brackets and your paint, so either fix that yourself or suffer damage. I put some thick padded tape on them. Secondly, when mounting to your trunk, the bottom strap/hook does not really the ability to tighten securely, so you are really just depending on gravity to hold the bottom end down. Finally, and most disturbing, unless you have a very narrow top tube, the bike-mount brackets are too narrow to hold the bike securely (see photo). Hence, your bike sits on top of them, rather than in them as it should. The end result is a really un-secure situation, suitable maybe for only very short trips at low speed - at best. If you have an expensive bike like me it is a big risk.
