Imperial Dragon Well (Lung Ching or Long Jing) Chinese Green Tea 1 Lb.

I am a longtime fan of dragonwell tea. This one has a great flavor. But you need to pay close attention to the brewing. Use just a pinch of leaves, no more than a teaspoon per cup. Do not use boiling water, and infuse for about one minute, two at the most. If you brew longer or if the water is too hot, the tea will be too bitter to drink. Do not let the color (or lack of it) fool you. The liquid should look a lot like plain water. If you get a darker, richer color your tea is probably too bitter.

I'm very pleased with this tea. I know that other reviewers have compared it unfavorably to lungjing tea in China, and they might be right--I don't claim to have an expert palate. But I DID do a blind taste test with this tea, Teavana, Tea Trekker, SerendipiTea, and Coffee Bean Direct. All were excellent, and I have nothing bad to say about any of them. This tea wasn't quite as floral as the Tea Trekker, but was more "vegetal" (which is the fancy word for "grassy") than a couple of the others. My conclusion was that this tea was near the middle of the pack, or better--but held its own with teas costing 8x as much.If you're buying green tea in the US, I don't think you'll find better value than this tea.Note that I've ordered this tea more than once, and plan to stick with it, but one time I did get a bad order. The tea had an off flavor that reminded me of hay that had gotten wet on the farm. The seller took care of my problem immediately, and I remain a happy customer.

If only I was allowed to rate with a negative star, we would be in business. Let me begin by saying that I am no stranger to Dragon Well Tea.I ordered this, and another brand by a different tea shop. When this arrived, I opened the box. The box was not damaged. I saw tea leaves in the box when I removed the bag from the box. I inspected the bag and found a hole in the bottom of the bag. I was not happy at that point, but seeing as how my first order of this product was not delivered as posted, Amazon refunded me my money. I should have taken that as a sign. I re-ordered. So, back to present. I opened the bag and emptied it into a container since the bag has been compromised. I smelled a grassy smell coming from this tea. I was a little worried at that point, but thought I would still give it a try. I made some. It tastes exactly like it smelled. grassy. Still trying to give this all the chances I could, I used more tea leaves. This was because the color was so light. It looked not quite right.So, I increased the amount of leaves by a crazy amount. It did not help the flavor. It was still grassy. I would compare it to brewing freshly cut grass. As a last resort, even though I know what longer steep times will do to tea, I still tried a longer time. Bitter as expected. There are a lot of stems and debris in this bag. I will run from this brand in the future, and will end up throwing what I have left out in the garbage. It hurt my taste buds. I have some real Dragon Well from another vendor that helped get the horrible taste out of my mouth, thankfully.

This tea is impressive at this price. Never really cared for Dragon Well until I tried this. Now I know what it should taste like. It has a subtle and lingering richness on the palate that is very agreeable. Slightly grassy yet mellow and sweet. If you love green tea and like China greens, this might be a good buy. I would not be surprised if this tea suddenly goes away or the price doubles.

Doesn't have the Dragon Well taste, as I've had many in the past. Lots of twigs. I seem to have to use more per cup. Not one I will purchase again. Disappointed :( Stars are for getting a lot for the price.UPDATE: Towards the middle/bottom of the bag was better for some reason. Either I got used to the taste or something. However, I did use less per cup. Therefore, I gave it another star

I came from the hometown of Long Jing, Hangzhow. I've drunk Long Jing tea for a couple of ten years. Because of pandemic, I had to order Long Jing tea on Amazon 1st time. But it doesn't taste like long Jing Tea.

This lung ching dragonwell tea is the best value out there. Excellent tea that's loose leaf and a great price. Unfortunately this time Amazon bozed it up with a big bad of dry dog food and split my bag of tea open during shipping. Next time maybe the shipping department doesn't put these two items together. C'mon folks...use some common sense

Product wasn't what I expected, did not look like the tea I was looking at when I ordered it. It did have good flavor though.
