An expensive and disappointing purchase
Because I live in Idaho, where winters aren't conducive to most kinds of outdoor exercise, the flexibility of using it as an indoor trainer was part of my purchase decision. The trainer stand was back-ordered and took far longer than initially stated to arrive--after a two-month wait, it showed up this week. The assembly instructions were very unclear, but after searching through videos for help, I was finally able to put it together. It took about four hours. Unfortunately the indoor use is nowhere near as satisfactory as a real elliptical--the movement is jerky, the resistance adjustment is almost non-existent, and I have to lean forward at an uncomfortable angle when using it.Riding outdoors isn't much better. Because you have to steer by leaning to one side or another, after weeks of practice, I still don't feel safe. The brakes are hard to reach, too.; they must have been designed by someone with giant hands. If I had been able to test this device in person beforehand, I would not have purchased it. I know I can still return it, but the unpacking and "unfolding" was an all-day process that I don't care to repeat in reverse. And the "white glove service" wasn't all that great either. It still required a lot of work on the part of myself and a friend who helped.

Fun to ride, Faster than I thought, Well Made, Takes a lot of space,
I have a 3 Speed Street Strider and enjoy riding it. Lucky for me I do not have hills in my area so the 3 speed unit is acceptable. I bought mine used so I could try it out and get used to it before I layout a couple of grand for a top of the lime model. In my opinion, it is worth the extra money to get the 7 or 8 speed Street Strider. I love my 3 speed model but having the gears is important if you plan to cover some distance and/or hills on the Street Strider. In general riding and handling the models are basically the same. The Street Strider does take a little time to build confidence and master turning. The turning radius is wider than a traditional bicycle in my opinion. This wide turning radius means you have to pay attention especially when moving fast as you may have to stop, dismount, and restart in a tight turn. With practice you can improve your turning. Despite very good brakes the Street Strider also take a little more distance to a full stop than a traditional bicycle. This model having the steel frame it is still fairly light. The top of the line version has a much lighter frame. Even when folded it still is quite large so you need a large vehicle to transport and plenty of garage space when not in use. Early models like mine require removing several bolts to fold. Current model all have quick release. Compared to my other elliptical on wheels(Me-Mover) this unit is much lighter and faster. However the Me-Mover turn radius is about half and the Me-Mover has dynamic gearing so it climbs hills like a mountain goat. The Me-Mover does not have arm levers that move. I like the 3 wheel setup for its stability and despite thin tires the Street Strider has a very smooth ride. I wish there was a place to mount mirrors. The only thing that will do the job is a helmet mirror or an expensive rear camera. Before riding this on a busy road you need lots of practice and need to be extra careful. It is large and fairly wide(but not much wider than a cruiser bicycle. The Street Strider is surprisingly fast. I can easily cruise at 15+. This model is not really intended for climbing hills though. Slight grades do not seem to be too hard.Competing products... Me-Mover, Elliptigo bike and SUB. The Street Strider is priced in the mid range of these products and IMHO is a good value. It would be good to establish a network of authorized dealers. The company says this will drive up the cost. However I think it would sell a lot better if people can go to a shop to buy it. Assembly is fairly complex but if you are comfortable doing routine bicycle maintenance and repair it is not too difficult. The company has good videos on how to assemble. I hope you enjoy this unbiased review.

Still on the satisfactory fence...
I bought the bike and requested white glove assembly. It took 5 weeks to arrive. After delivery I discovered the stand was on backorder for 4-6 weeks. While waiting, I gave the outdoor option a go, but it is very difficult to use without the stand. Excellent balance and arm strength are required. Another five weeks later, the stand finely arrived.Like other posts have stated, stand assembly was challenging. The instructions provided are poorly written. There are also no directing online links. Fortunately, Youtube was resourceful. I've been riding it indoors now for two days and that has gone fairly well. However, the lean forward angle is not comfortable. I might need to raise the height of my bars.My concern now is a clicking noise I hear with one of the pedals. Sounds like it might break. Oye!

it is a piece of exercise equipment; not a mode of transportation
Bought mine used. It did not have much use because the vent spews were still on the tires tread.First : this is a piece of exercise equipment not a mode of transportation. I feel Streetstrider is wronging people with that thoughtFirst MAKE sure the front is aligned. When I got mine it was not and after I did align it it mover easier and did not pull in the turns. Also make sure the back tire is true...use a rule, not just your eyesAlso the handles would not stay in place. I found one screw stripped (each side) (shame on them putting that much pressure on a aluminum block) ..Order some Stainless #10-32 Allen head screws and lock nuts from Amazon and got that problem fixedI bought a bike computer (from here on Amazon) and installed it. Problem all bikes computers have too short of a cable, (needs to be on the back tire) so if you are good at soldering wires you can add to the wire and have a nice set up. BE SURE you get one that will work with 20" tiresOver all if you plan to use it for exercise on paved roads and trails it is great. As a way to get around town, you will be disappointed

Difficult to balance
I got the 3i was hoping it was similar to a regular elliptical, but it is much higher off ground and if you have trouble with balance this will be an issue. You will need a good sense of balance and strength, the only up side to this right now is you can use it indoors, but it does not have smooth stride. Hoping it works out, but right now rethinking this purchase.
