I bought this book several years ago when I began transitioning my oldest son from a mostly allopathic approach to his common ailments (seasonal allergies, and cough-variant asthma). I devoured the book, and loved the detail that went into it, but ultimately found it a little hard to apply. This is not so much a fault of the book as it is the simple fact that the author has basically distilled the entire knowledge of his schooling and years of practice into this one book. It might take a very experienced amateur (no, that's not a contradiction) to get any real use out of this book unless the child in need of treatment is exhibiting very distinct symptoms or signs. An experienced homeopath is a much more appropriate person to decide upon constitution than I am (shocking, I know), but I still pull this book out from time to time to see if my kiddo has developed enough to "fit in" to one of the constitutional types. Still, I consider this an excellent book for anyone committed to learning more about and employing home remedies and homeopathy.My favorite thing about this book:It is exhaustively cross-referenced. The index is quite thorough, there are symptom and characteristic outlines at the end of every section, and terms of interest are in bold print throughout the entire book.

Great resource. I use it all the time in my pediatrics practice. Homeopathy isn't the only modality I use but I use it frequently and it makes huge changes in kids' behaviors and symptoms. In kids I treat with other therapies I'll often see a slower resolution or improvement of their symptoms, while with a good homeopathic remedy there will be dramatic changes in a short period of time, often within a day or less than a week. I'll have autistic kids or kids with ADHD whose teachers are calling the parents to let them know how much better their child is behaving and asking what happened, or kids who have a solid bowel movement the next day for the first time in a year, etc. All the time. Generally the only reason I don't give a remedy at a visit is because I either didn't have one come up strongly / I couldn't discern a good remedy from the case or the kid is just too healthy and needs a few tweaks to the diet, habits, etc (aka just a couple obstacles to cure to remove and they're fine). I purchased this book from TextBookNook as a Used Very Good book. Seller gave description that book was basically new & they were correct. Except for some minor wear from sitting on the shelf the book appears to be in brand new condition. Thank you for your honest & expert interpretation of the used state of this textbook. I would highly recommend this seller. As for the textbook itself, it's been very interesting reading/learning about pediatric homeopathic constitutional types. However, I'd hoped the text would have provided further insight into homeopathic remedy choices/potencies for each types &/or how to adapt constitutional treatment into acute illness situations.

The book has some good information on genotypes sand phenotypes. His book on Stramonium is more helpful. There are deeper issues to be considered like Tonic Disease and Pathic Disease that are not taken into account that need to be treated sequentially.

I love this bookand that it is easy to read compared to other materia medica.I wish he would have covered more remedies. Or has more book on children to come
