Rick Warren's Bible Study Methods

The Bible is a special book. So much wisdom! No other book contains prophesy that is fulfilled. I have read the Bible through four times. Bible Study Methods is not a book that you just read through like Purpose Driven Life, it is just what the title says, a list of methods that you can use to study people in the Bible, chapters, words topics or other subjects. It points you to other resources most of which are available on the internet now. If you will get this book and use it to dig into the Bible you will find deeper meaning. There is more under the hood than you thought. Do a study and I think you will find it very rewarding and humbling. One thing you might enjoy more is listening to someone else who has used the book tell about the studies they did.You can be flexible when you use the methods. Sometimes it is hard to tell when the study of a word becomes the study of a topic or a theme. You can use methods from all three. There are lots of good Bible concordances, commentaries, and encyclopedia's on the internet so you might not use the exact one that is recommended in the book if you can't find it (or you could probably order it from Amazon!). You can find Strong's numbers for KJV and NASB on BibleHub. I would give this book 10 stars if I could. But to benefit from it you are going to have to commit hours of time over days and in some cases weeks. Some of the studies can be done in a few hours but others will take weeks. I recommend it highly. You will have to get in and drive it around, but it will blow your doors off!

My daughters went through this with their youth leader and it helped a ton with their uderstanding of the Bible!

Since I reviewed this, I got a software update on my tablet kindle app, and not I can zoom into the problem images and easily read them. However, not able to do this on all my devices just yet. This caused me to change from 1 to 4 stars.Why? In many places in each chapter, instead of text, there is a picture or icon of section heading. The reader cannot enlarge it like they can enlarge font size. I needed a magnifying glass to read those words in the picture. And those pictures were critical to what Rick Warren was saying.Most people think studying the bible is hard work. Rick Warren gives guidance and organization to get you started in easily doing that.

Helpfull for bible study, yet some of the teaching, in my opinion, is outdated.Like, try to be your best.Yield to God and obey Him, is better practice.

I have used this book for 20 years for personal study, for teaching "How to..." classes, and to use as study aid for others personal study. Most Bible study how to books are just a lot of reading. Warren gives just enough explanation and why bible study is important, but the give some of the most practical study methods for getting the most out of your time with God in His Word. I have used it so much that I now had a local company(FedEx) put a spiral binding on the book that makes it so much easier to use.

I'm a Bible school student and had this text as one of two for a Bible Study Teaching Methods class. The book is an excellent resource for learning some basic methods of Bible study you can do on your own and then teach others to do as well.The only complaint I have about this book is the binding (hence the 4 stars). It is so poor that the spine cracked and pages were falling out before I finished reading the 2nd chapter. I'm going to contact the publisher and see if they will send me another book. Until then, I'll have to use lots of tape to keep the pages in place!Other than this, the book is excellent and would be a great addition to any Christian's library, but especially if you are a teacher of the Bible.

This book is very easy to read and understand. I found this book so helpful in my spiritual life that I gave it as gifts to four other people. It is informative and allows the reader to work at their pace. The author ask that you not move from one method until you have totally mastered it.I also like the fact that Rick Warren explained various Bible translations and provided a list of tool to use during Bible Study. His explanation of each Bible study tool is so helpful. It is great that he provided a list of good commentaires and so forth to use. His explanations enabled me to purchase several good tools for my library and to know how to use them.I recommend this book to anyone interested in studying God's word. I gave the book to a new minister, and two Church School teachers. They all found the book to be very helpful.

If you are interested in Bible study to learn for practical wisdom and understanding, I highly recommend this book. I bought it on Kindle for my son in college so he could listen to it in the car during his one hour drive to work and back. It helped him maximize the limited time he had for readings prior to doing homework. Listening is not the ideal way to use this book because you must be able to look at the charts and study guides. The print copy is more helpful. Once his class was over, I began to use the book for my personal Bible study time and although I attended a Bible college and learned years ago how to study the Bible, the new insights in this book have given me renewed vision.

This is one book that I recommend to all Christians as one the ten books they MUST read. This book is helpful and presented humbly by a renowned teacher. He gives 12 ways to read and study your Bible and all of them work but one or two will really resonate with you and help you establish a rhythm of Bible study in your life. This isn't onerous to read, rather the opposite and you will find his manner conducive to making up your own mind.

This is one of the best Bible study tools I've come across. Has different methods which makes it easy to follow no matter the stage of life you find yourself in. Thank you Pastor Rick Warren
