The Double O is a new limited edition that Imperial Valley Guitar Co. has just released. You wouldn't think there would be much to innovate on an ancient instrument like a Weissenborn, but this Double O model has some really good ideas. The Django style oval soundhole and the F-holes on the upper bouts are cool, and the pearl diamond inlays are beautiful, but the main thing is that this instrument sports a full 2 octave fingerboard. You wouldn't think it would make all that much difference, but it sure does. After playing the Double O for a while, you'll never want to go back. It's really handy knowing you have as much fingerboard to work with above the octave as below it. You don't have to change your thinking when you get way up on the neck and you don't have to guess about your off the fingerboard pitches. The Double O uses the excellent Fishman Sonicore pickup with the Presys+ preamp system. This system features 4 bands of EQ, a notch filter for feedback busting and a phase switch, useful for adding extra fullness at low volumes, and the very handy built-in tuner.
