Chef Specialties5 Inch Westin Pepper Mill and Salt Shaker Set

I am pleasantly surprised by this set. Yes, they are acrylic vs. metal like my 10 year old set that broke, but unless you want to pay 5 times as much, this is a great set. They look like metal, and with salt and pepper inside, have a nice weight. Pepper grinder grinds from fine to coarse (4 settings). The salt, as others have said, has a disc on top to close the salt shaker for filling! And anther good surprise, is that the salt shaker has a plastic mechanism on the bottom to turn to lock in place (my last set had a little rubber plug that corroded and would not stay in place). Of course, time will tell if this plastic piece is worthy of praise - but for now, I am happy. I must admit the salt, when fully opened, comes out too fast for my taste, but I just close the disc on top half way, and it is perfect.

Mostly as expected; previous set looked more like polished pewter while this set looks like stainless. It's OK and serves purpose.

Good products. However, they sent me the taller, copper ones instead of the chrome. I was too lazy to send them back, so I kept them despite the size not working as well in the space I keep them (and the color not matching other items I have). It was a little frustrating.

I received these today, and was surprised by the color of the item. I expected a chrome or brushed nickel color and the one I received is a bronze color. It's not bad, it's just not what i expected. I will probably keep it. But be careful when ordering.

I love these. They are very pretty in person, a nice silver with a matte shine. They are also a great size. I have had sets in the past that are either too small and have to be refilled constantly, or too large and seem ridiculous on the table or counter. Also, I had to replace my last pair because the pepper mill finally fell apart. These seem to be of much higher quality. Very happy that I was able to find such a nice item at such an affordable price!

love the locking feature on the salt shaker; I had a hard time finding one that does this. I have two little girls that love to dump out the salt. I am having a problem with the bottom plug falling out - which is a bit messy.

I expected the "Chrome" to mean a metal...but these are exactly like the last set I bought at WalMart that melted when they were left too close to the stove...not sure if these are plastic or not. They give the exact appearance of the cheaper ones but if I find out more, I will add to this post. At this time, I will just give them a 3 star....They did arrive quickly, did look exactly like their picture - I'm just not sure of their quality just yet.

For some reason the salt shaker comes with a little sticker on top, which, when removed, leaves a gluey residue that I could not wash off. So, there is a cake of salt stuck to it now! Otherwise they are fine - the pepper grinds and the salt shaker shakes.
