These pads are a pleasure to wear and protect your elbows very well. I took a couple of falls with them and they protected my elbows from the rocks where I landed. My shoulder and wrist that were not protected took a beating. These falls were at low speed (I was x-country riding); thicker padding would be required for downhillers. They are very comfortable to wear and they stay in place. Because of thier low profile, you could easily carry them in your pack while ascending if you wished (I just keep them on). They are not too hot even in the San Francisco Bay Area where I bike. As others have mentioned, a lighter color (grey?) would be welcomed to reduce heat absorption even more. I also use the knee pads from the same manufacturer and I am equally satisfied with them (5 stars too).

I really like these elbow pads for the protection it provides and slim profile with comfort. These pads are very breathable. I just did 10 mile longboard cruising session with these on, and they felt comfortable the entire time. Kind of like wearing a long sleeve shirt. Pretty much full range of elbow movement. I did not have to adjust them at all. My purpose wearing these isn't for multiple impacts, just for any accidents that can occur when longboard cruising. I feel confident these pads will greatly reduce the chances of broken elbows . As for chances of skin abrasions, I am not to confident in that since the pad isn't secure like the "standard" elbow pad design. The price is pretty high though, but I think only because there aren't any other competing products with the same quality. I have not fallen yet, but when I do I will be sure to update you guys and the rating.

Get the next size up from what they recommend unless you are at the very bottom of the recommended size. Had to return the first pair but after several uses I can say they are perfect for mountain biking, even in the heat. I have not tested them on a fall yet and I hope they won't ever be, but there are no issues with slipping and they are comfortable.

These pads are great Previously had chipped my elbow, so sensitive to even the slightest impact. These stay in place and provide good protection. Be sure to measure both bicep and forearm to make sure you get the proper size. The 'cuffs' stretch a fair amount, but if you don't get the a large enough size it will probably restrict blood flow. The cuffs have a thin band of no-slip material (silicone?) that help to keep the pads in place without needing an extreme amount of pressure.

Pros: These are a life saver, or at least a skin and bone saver. I bought these for my 14 year old son for mountain biking (I also wear the same elbow and knee pads which have keep me from having multiple injuries). I have worn mine for about a year and they are starting to show some wear with the foam tearing on one spot (I have been wearing and washing them ~ 3 times a week over the past 4 months....so I feel like they have held up well considering the amount of use, crashes, and washes they have received. They are the most comfortable padding I have worn. I don't even feel them (except for when I get hot, see below) after wearing a few minutes. I am 5'6" and 118 pounds, fairly muscular and the small fit me great. They are a little big for my son who is 5'4" and 96 pounds with little arm muscle. I think an extra small would fit him better.Cons:These have very little "breathability" (little air flow) so they will get wet with sweat and increase your body heat (I wash them with each wear as I do intense rides).... great if it is cold outside, but is a negative factor when riding or using them when it is hot.Cost. I feel these are pricey and they have increased in price since last year which is why I only gave them 4 stars.

First order I was a bit worried. After using for 6 or 8 mountain bike rides the seams began to separate the pad from the sleeve (I fall a lot, what can I say). Was beginning to regret spending this much for a product that seemed to be so delicate. However, a quick call to Kat at their customer service department from my friend (same issues) was met with a quick resolution. She advised they had a short run with seam problems. Asked for photo's and proof of purchase. He forwarded me her email and I was responded to within minutes and asked for same. Next day I was advised they had mailed replacements and to dispose of my current items as I saw fit. They will make a good backup pair. I received the replacements within 4 days. Excellent customer service and they stand behind their product.As for performance, they are extremely comfortable and breathe well enough. Did I mention I fall a lot? I have had no injuries to my knees or elbows while wearing these.

Sizing is way off. I’ve had to size up in elbow and knee pads for my 15 year old son. He’s 5’ 10” and 142. Measuring him didn't help. Just placed third order.

My friends and I have been trying these out on North Carolina single track mountain bike trails for about 3 months now. What we like about the elbow and Knee pads:1) Lightweight and much cooler than traditional pads.2) Protection is good and most importantly, stitches will be avoided. These are like wearing an extra layer of skin.3) space requirement is small compared to cone pads.One tip and it's not for everyone. The upper arm has a silicone strip attached to help prevent the sleeve from sliding down your arm and to me, i feel like it's tugging and pulling my skin much of the ride. Try folding the top over itself so that silicone is now on the outside - I found it to be more comfortable. The real friction comes from both the firm fit and sweating. They really don't move after warming up.
