Additions to Clay Bodies

It's a very nice book but it's mainly just pictures, with like...afew paragraphs of info in each section

Other reviewers were right; it's more of a picture book than a technical guide to the subject introduced. All of the subjects are interesting, and there are many photos were I wanted to emulate what was going on. But there is no technical guide or explanation to any of this, and I am not talking about the lack of scientific terms or anything. Pictures sometimes lack captions to explain what you're seeing, or they might be a page or two away from the paragraphs that explain what's going on. Also, even though the author says that putting organic materials into an electric kiln is fine and provides safety concerns regarding it, most studios would never allow you to put 75% of the things described in this book into a kiln. You'd have to have your own studio to even attempt what's written in most of the chapters, and the other things that you can do have little explanation.

Inspiring!

Basically a picture book showing the author's work (LOTS of the author's work) and a smattering of work by other artists, with bits of technical information here and there in case you were wondering about additions to clay bodies. Not much on specific things to add to clay bodies or what to expect for results, but the color reproductions were nice so there's that.

I am not that impressed with this book, but I will keep it. I think I will end up using it more for additional research on a couple of the processes involved. Most processes were pretty conventional and not as insightful as I had hoped.

Good overview of posibilities. Not a technical reference

As a novice potter/ceramicist, I have been intrigued as to how many artists working in clay achieve their results. This book helps to answer that, and is inspiring me to try more than clay alone to express myself in this very adaptable medium.Many thanks to the author for making such a beautiful book.And to the Book Depository for sending it so quickly.I can't wait to get back into the garage (oops, studio) to try some of the techniques.

Great book, i absolutely love it, really nice to sit down with a cuppa and just read! Nice photos and good information about artist techniques.
