Just what I needed
At the risk of achieving TL;DR…First, let's get this out of the way: Yes, the pants are left long by the manufacturer. They are sewn of non-fraying fabric, and you are meant to cut them to the length that you like. No hemming is necessary, unless you want a very finished look (and expect people to be eyeballing your ankles so closely).I am 5'6", 150lbs., and I bought the Large in solid black. The pants are, as shown in the vendor photos, clingy in the hips/butt area and roomy elsewhere (including the waistband, but I have a waist/hip ratio that does this to me no matter what I buy). The fabric is very stretchy, so there's probably a lot of leeway across sizes. The style's cling and thinness of the fabric (that's thin, but not sheer, at least not the black) does require giving thought to what undergarments you wear beneath. If you get one of the wildly patterned pairs, your VPL may not be so V anyway, but don't count on it.I had a pair of pants very similar to this a gazillion (okay, 20) years ago, and I wish I'd never gotten rid of them. Thank goodness I found these! Great for traveling, they don't wrinkle and dry very quickly so you can freshen them up if necessary in a hotel room sink. Comfortable enough for just about anything, they dress up for an evening out as easily as they can be worn to the office or running errands. I'll definitely be buying more in other colors.

So comfy!
Incredibly comfortable. Could have gone down to a large as the xlarge is a bit baggy around the hips. My fault as I’m losing weight and not really sure what size I am anymore. Only thing I’d make sure you wash before wearing as the black dye does bleed onto skin and other fabrics. Otherwise I will be ordering another pair size large. For reference I am 5’3” and 188lbs. Post c section baby. Feels great on my belly. Not restricting at all! Also they are long and drag on the ground but I bought them for home wear so I am ok with that.Update January 2020Still loving the original pants. Misplaced them and ordered a second pair. The new pair are a completely different fabric makeup. Silky but stretchy. And hand wash only. I don’t mind though. Easy to clean and line dry quickly. Only thing is I would have dozed down one size. They stretch out a bit while wearing them. I have them for house use only so again I don’t mind too much. Still love this style of pant.

Pants I could wear for life, but possible style change that’s not so great...
I have ordered these pants three times I like them so much, but the third pair were different than original two, hence the 4 stars. These are great, drapey, comfy pants that you can style to look more pulled together than joggers or leggings. Also, THESE ARE GREAT MATERNITY PANTS! Comfy, loose, lightweight but not see through (I wore black modal and brown modal while pregnant), but not so thin that pantylines jump out at you as long as you choose your underwear with a wee bit of concern to avoid them. Fold over waist is not tight, and can be positioned under the bump or unfolded and pulled up over your bump.I was in my second into third trimester in the summer and these were cool enough to wear as a “dressy” pant (look for the culottes version too). I ordered two sizes, and kept the larger to have some bump wiggle room, so I think they run true to size (kept xxl, was a size 12-14 pre-pregnancy). I ordered the first pair in April and wore them nonstop until baby was born in October (and some after during postpartum period). First two pairs were 5 star all the way! Then, I needed a smaller pair and reordered in May of this year, same listing but in charcoal. Not the same pant. Material wasn’t as soft and felt cheaper, and instead of a straight, full leg palazzo with a lovely drape, these were enormously bell-bottom shaped. Even after trimming the length (I’m 5’7”, and had to trim original pairs too, no big deal) they were a wide bell bottom. I kept them, but only wear them around the house.I’d really like to order another black modal pair, and I might do so (making sure it’s from the same prime seller as the first pair, starts with an “n”), but if they are the same as the charcoal pair I will return them.

So soft, high waist, made for shorter girls.
Fabric is great for what I wanted, like really thin yoga pants. They stretch a lot and are very lightweight. Be prepared for panty lines! Fortunately the fabric was what I was looking for, soft and breathable. Unfortunately they are much too short and already stretched out in the waist. I am 5’8, 135lbs and carry most of my weight in the bum. Still, I love them cause of the feel. Highly recommend if you’re looking for really high waisted, soft lounge pants. I have a feeling my pregnant friends would love these cause of the stretch.

Dress up or down.
I am 5' 4" and they hit the floor in 2" heels. I have a 36.5" waist and 42" hips and the medium was a perfect fit. I bought black and they are very silky. I added a sequined top and it looked very formal. I also wore them with a grey sweater and it looked great "again". Well you can see by this review that these pants run large. They are extremely stretchy, which I like anyway. The hips are loose. I have ordered 4 more pairs, 2 black and 2 brown. I will be traveling and they should pack nicely.Jan 9th - Since I first purchased them, I have washed them. Wash in cold water and dry on medium heat - No Shrinkage! Also, I have now received the others, the brown was just as nice. Both silky. They are light weight though, so I purchased some tights (Romastory - fleece lined) worked out quite well. Now I both look good and feel warm.

The material is lighter than I'd like and it was wrinkled in the package
The material is lighter than I'd like and it was wrinkled in the package. I washed and hung while still damp hoping the wrinkles would disappear, but that is not the case.
