Wires in one side swivel 180 degrees!
I used to have a lighter weight version of tongs similar to this design. I used it a lot until the tongs broke where the wires meet the plastic. (It was likely a different brand.) My old pair had a feature where you could swivel one side of the tongs to either oppose the other side, or nest the sides parallel to each other, like how spoons and forks stack up in your drawer. This nested configuration worked very well for whisking or picking up more delicate foods. This shape is also how you would use the tongs as a spatula. The other opposing configuration makes it easier to pick up things like an egg boiling in water or to serve a salad. The description on these tongs made no mention of this feature, but I ordered it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised that these tongs also have one side that swivels 180 degrees. Keep your skin clear of the hinge (on the pointy end where the two sides meet) though or you can pinch your hand in the hinge when releasing your grip. I find the flat, squared off shape of the wires more useful to whisk food than a rounded-end, standard-shaped whisk when whisking shallow ingredients such as eggs in a bowl, or when using a square-bottomed pan or container. When whisking eggs, for instance, you can arrange the wires to be nested in parallel, and submerge the bulk of the wires in the shallow eggs by holding the whisk more flat. When whisking and stirring liquid in a pan/pot, such as a custard or gravy, the square-shaped ends of the wires can scrape along the bottom and corner where the bottom meets the side of the pan better than a rounded end whisk would.

I love this item
I love this item...had it for more than a decade. Perfect for picking up and turning anything...especially vegetables like asparagus and long beans. But it isn't sturdy and the plastic that held the metal broke after several years. My husband glued it and tied a plastic strap around it and it was fine for more years. I had searched for everywhere to find another, and I was so excited when I saw them on Amazon that I bought two because I assumed my husband's fix wouldn't last forever...and they are so reasonable.

Nice little tool
Like: Fantastic fish fillet flipper. One hand operation.Dislike: plastic hinge prob won’t last forever, far less so if it’s put in the dishwasher.

Maybe to handle light food.
Maybe to handle light food. Maybe other better options in the market.

Excellent for the price.
Handy dandy for flipping things like fried fish fillets that might be inclined to break. Works well for omelettes too. Update - broke where the plastic handles meet the metal tongs junk.

Ok quality
They don't close together tight like you would expect tongs to. Quality is ok. For $5 dont expect them to last too long.

Just What I was Looking for!
I bought this for when I cook more tender items like fish because standard tongs tend to shred the food- these worked perfectly! They are super lightweight and take up very little space in the drawer.
