Lovely variety but could use some photographs.
I love using my slow cooker. As somebody who works long hours it is just so easy and convenient but I do struggle to come up with new ideas and tend to stick to the same 3 or 4 dishes. This kindle book has a nice selection of easy to do recipes. It has good variety and I genuinely think I will try every single one of these. I would estimate around 60% of these recipes are chicken dishes but in my experience Chicken is one of the most versatile meats and cooks really well and keeps moist in a slow cooker. That being said there is a recipe for every meat and there is nothing to stop you substituting certain ingredients. A little bit of trial and error is always needed. I do tend to agree with a lot of the previous reviews regarding the lack of photographs. I do like to have a visual aid so I can see what the finish product would look like. I will often look through recipe books and pick a dish to cook purely on the photograph alone. I firmly believe you eat with your eyes as well. The lack of pictures is the only reason for the four star review instead of the full five. All in all I am happy with this book. I love the variety and can't wait to try out all the recipes. I would highly recommend the item, the author and the seller.I received this item at a discounted price in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Great all round cook book, good variety of dishes if you're willing to try something a little different, you'll be inspired!
I love using my slow cooker but I end up relying on the same old tried and tested recipes so I'm always on the lookout for inspiring new recipes. So I was pleased to find a kindle based recipe book that I can read on the train and use my commuting time to plan a few mid week low maintenance meals! So yesterday afternoon I made the tortellini lasagne which went down really well and I had all the ingredients to hand, although next time I will add an extra tin of tomatoes and maybe a splash of red wine as I prefer a really rich tomatoey taste.I'm looking forward to trying at the white bean chili at the weekend as we have the in-laws visiting and there's nothing worse than slaving away in the kitchen when you would rather be having a glass of wine with your guests!I must admit I have tweaked the recipes slightly as I'm a pretty fussy eater and I don't really go for processed sauces and prefer to make my own, but the beauty of slow cooking is that you can improvise and you don't need to religiously follow a recipe to the exact letter. One of the best things about all of these recipes is that there's minimal prep for maximum results and nothing beats coming home from work and opening the front door to an amazing smell and knowing that dinner is already cooked! Maximum results for minimum effort! With all of these recipes you can do all of the prep the night before and just turn the cooker on as you leave for work, there are some really easy foolproof ones in there using ready made soups and pasta sauces for when you really can't be bothered to cook, but I prefer home made any day so would rather whip up my own quick pasta sauce. A few have mentioned that a lot of the recipes are unhealthy but there are plenty that are very healthy without processed ingredients, even a couple of vegetarian ones and some seafood dishes too. As I said, you can easily substitute any processed ingredients you don't want to use for your own sauces.(or use a high quality pre-made organic soup for example rather than the tinned variety)It's also worth noting that this is an American cookbook, so the measurements are not metric, however I managed ok, for crock pot cooking I normally just guess at the measurements anyway as I find it mind numbingly boring to do all that measuring!(as long as you have enough liquid to cover your ingredients you should be fine) A lot of the recipes use cups for measurements so if you have a set of cup measures or even an old yoghurt pot, to use you're good to go.Other tempting recipes that I'm planning to try are:Fisherman stewMushroom and Barley StewCheesey ranch potatoesCajun Shrimp & riceI don't eat meat any more, but the following also sound lovely and I'm pretty sure my boyfriend would love them:Hungarian GoulashTurkey ChiliThai peanut chickenLemon & Garlic chickenMexican pulled pork tacosThere are also plenty of American style recipes for when you want a real blow out! - things like Cola Chicken, Cowboy Casserole, crock pot ribs and meatloaf which are not really my kind of thing but I know plenty of people who would love those dishes! If you are looking for classic beef stew and lamb casserole type recipes, this is not the book for you, but if you're willing to try something a little different then you'll find plenty of inspiration here. The kindle format works really well in this book as you have the list of recipes right at the front and can quickly scan to the one you need. The ingredients list fits on a single page and then the next page shows the method. So its very easy to use in that respect. In addition to the Kindle download, you also get access to a free bonus eBook about healthy eating and how to avoid diabetes, which I'm planning to download and read as I love learning about healthy eating and nutrition, so I thought that was a nice touch! In summary, a great all round cook book, definitely worth a read if you want to get the most out of your slow cooker! This was a free kindle download in exchange for an honest review. A great book for easy to make crock pot menus
Cooking is a passion for some and a pain for others, and anything that can help in this fast pace life is a help.I have a crock pot and really only use it for stews and for curries, its handy for putting on when I go to work and having a meal ready when I return. However, variety and inspiration has been lacking outside my 2 or 3 staple recipes so I was looking for other meals I could cook well, and this book really does help. The menu's are variable, there is something for everyone and they don't following a repeating theme, and they are easily explained in a way that I can follow and I have had success with a couple of the items already.I would recommend this for someone not a passionate kitchen chef who wants easy meals with a bit of prep work.Disclaimer: I received this item free or discounted as part of a product trial and to provide an honest product review
