Give Chocopot a Shot
Hey, mixed reviews plus $5.00 (last spring) equals a filler b-day present. I figured it was no biggie if it did not work, and I also figured that peeps could just be impatient or had bad luck. Luckily, it is not horrible. I do only give it four stars because how excited can one get over melted chocolate? Anyway, this is so easy to use that a dog with one missing front leg can use it. All you do is set it up, put it on, sit for ten minutes, stir a couple times, transfer melted chocolate to molds, tap molds to get out air, and put in fridge for an hourish. We had no issue with the batteries. You can only put in an ounce of unmmelted chocolate at a time, so beware. And, it's the stirring action that encourages the melting. Has an automatic shut-off function. For the one ounce, you get about four big pieces, or two big and four little...you get the idea. The molds are very cute, but could be tougher. Maybe they are not too tough so that the finished pieces pop out; I am not a seasoned chocolate "maker". Two small spoons are included- one for very small details if you decide to do different colors, and the other can be replaced by any standard, disposable, plastic spoon if lost. Hand washable. Chocolate chips recommended over bars. Takes four AA batteries. Comes with a DVD featuring kids related to Bandai employees making chocolates. Does not come with chocolate. Nice for a slow day or if you do not want to sit on your chocolate bar.

DO NOT BOTHER!
I purchased this for my 8 year old. I should have known that anything that was safe for kids and involved melting chocolate would NOT work. The pot does not really get hot enough to melt the chocolate and it goes through 2AA batteries like they are nothing. After going through a set of batteries with less than a tablespoon of chocolate that was only softened a little to show for it, we gave up and used the microwave to melt some chocolate.*Note, the pot is very very tiny. It looks bigger, but the pot itself only holds about 1/8 cup. Size doesn't really matter since it doesn't function the way it claims anyway, but I was shocked at it's tiny size. This item is a complete waste of money!Great idea, worthless product!

Christmas
I will be surprised to see what is actually in the box. It looks like there isn't much. I had to go out and buy a couple bags of chocolate so when we do our gift exchange the little girl will have some to use...

Great for everyone, small and easy to clean.
Works perfectly and is very easy to clean. it is great for toddler fondue as well because it is small, has no flame, automatically turns off when dissembled, and only the bottom of the metal bowl gets heated. The surrounding plastic does not smell, and it takes the heat away from the sides of the bowl so that it is not very hot.

Don't waste your time!
My 10 year old received this for Christmas and after the pot sitting for over an hour the chocolate had barely melted. Luckily she is old enough to use the microwave and turned to that method. She likes the molds but the pot is a waste.

does not melt
We only put about 6 white chocolate chips in the pot and it never became a liquid. Cute but does not work.

Loads of fun!
Unlike the negative review, I actually really liked this product! The batteries lasted through one night of chocolate making fun and if you use rechargeable batteries, they'll be ready for next time. I bought this for my 6 year old niece. Not only was it her favorite present, her two older brothers (8 and 10), loved it just as much and may have even played with it more than my niece! They made chocolate with marshmallows inside, chocolate with rice crispies, nuts, pretzels. The other review complained about the size, but I actually think that's a positive. There's not a ton of chocolate, just enough for one, two, or three kids to play with for an evening... without over doing the sweets.
