That it gives you everything you need from it.
Bought it for Christmas for my Dad. I found out that he has slowed down on collecting them. But he still Loved it!

Great Book.
Great book with information on hundreds of knives and manufacturers. Only downfall is pricing is limited to just a few of major brands. Other than that, very informative.

Price Guide to Case Knives
I'm not very knowledgable on this topic and have not sat down and thoroughly read this book, but I am disappointed that it offers so little information on several popular knife brands of interest to me, including European brands Puma, Mora and Marttiini. The index shows one page on Frost, two pages on Camillus and two pages on John Russell Green River Works. These last two are of significant historical importance, and Frost is curious because it's so far-flung globally. There are just a few paragraphs on Shapleigh of the US and also very little on Sheffield of England. Not coincidentally, the authors' position is that these knives are not particularly collectable. There is far, far more information on Case, which the authors also hold in higher collectable esteem. I should note that the historical sketch on Camillus has information I haven't seen elsewhere; pretty cool, but there are no footnotes.Knife brands of interest to me do show up incidentally in generic discussions, but that seems backwards. On the plus side, the bibliography looks to be a good one. I want to know why Frost is found in Scandanavia, Asia and Germany, as well as the US. That discussion isn't in this book, but I'll bet it is in some of the listed sources.Because this book is of very little personal interest to me, at least at this time, I can't recommend it. A Case collector might like it a lot, however, and it is very well written.

At Last...clarity!
I have gone through more than a few knife guides. I do not like the idea of buying a guide and needing another guide to explain the one I bought.......This one is Clear. Most stright forward information plus a CD to help.Better guide than most that are out there for the beginner.
