Excellent for Corrections of all kinds, Not so good for applying make up
Very powerful magnification and small width screen makes this the perfect mirror for locating hard to see skin issues (such as tracking down unwanted hair which would be otherwise remain invisible to the naked eye, investigating close up a cut or a blemish. ( Warning :10X magnification on anyone's skin is bound to be scary. (Remember reading Gulliver's Travels? Yeah, like that.) most other mirrors are 5X or 7X, so this is an intensified experience, not for the faint of heart. I saw things I never would have imagined were sitting on my face until I saw them magnified 10 X- things that made me actually gasp out loud in horror. So factor inAs a lighted mirror for applying make up so you get the overall look you want, this mirror's limited field-of-vision may be less than ideal. ( It IS ideal for applying a single, focused area - say perfect strokes of mascara; and or making all sorts of corrections to your face or make up that require a huge focus on a very limited are of the face (catching flecks of eye shadow or mascara that fall unnoticed onto on your cheeks for instance, or for highlighting overly hard lines of eyeliner that could benefit from a slight blending brushstroke, for instance. I have this mirror suctioned to the mirror over my bathroom sink. Its light and very small (6-7"' across and portable, so-- good for travel.) I use this mirror mostly as a fail safe; I use it to check stuff before I head out the door. It stops me from leaving B&B creme un-blended, and from going out in public with random 2" hairs sprouting from my chin. ( where in God's name do those things come from??)For APPLYING make up, I will henceforth be in the market for a much larger (Laptop/notebook) sized lighted make up mirror( the kind that has three sides and sits on a table. For this overall make up use, less magnification--5X or 7X seems like it would be ideal.

Magnified mirror, at least this much, is NOT GOOD FOR Shaving. Probably good for makeup, I dunno.
You have to control distance from mirror for it to be in focus, can make it awkward to see clearly like back by your ears on jaw, neck. I will stick w/ non magnified mirror for shaving. The suckion cup and light was nice though.

Love this mirror for helping me blend my makeup better
OK - so this is a mixed bag. This mirror has been amazing. Works as described and has not failed yet - even with daily use. However, the first time you use it - brace yourself! The magnification is so high and amazing that you see every little thing on your face! The day I got it I spent a bit of time plucking hairs, etc.. I wasn't sure it was the best idea to see my face that up close and personal but you realize when you put your makeup on it really helps you see any inconsistency or makeup not blended well.

One teeny problem made me drop from 5 to 3 stars
Pros:Fast ShippingGreat MagnificationExcellent SuctionEasy To RemoveYou don't need to remove to change batteriesCons:Short Battery LifeSpring IssueLOVE this mirror. It's so easy to firmly grip to my mirror...also easy to remove. The suction is increased by rotating the part that's over the suction cup -- so to remove the mirror simply rotate the other way and pull on the tab. This mirror takes 3 AAA batteries. Many reviewers complain about short battery life - just don't leave the light on. In fact, if it's placed in a well lit area you really don't need the light. You don't need to remove the mirror to change batteries...just tip the mirror forward and you can access. What irks me is that the 3rd time I changed the batteries one of the tiny springs that holds one of the batteries in place popped out. For the life of me I cannot slide it back on to stay firmly in, so I had to really shove it in to hold one of the batteries in place...I'm worried that the next time I change the batteries I either won't be able to secure the spring so it will work (or if I do it'll again be a total pain). It's made of cheap plastic (which is why that spring popped out probably) but that's probably why it's so light. I would still recommend this mirror, just warn you to be gentle when removing batteries.

Quality Mirror, Great Price
When I first opened the box, I thought this is not made well. After I tried using it, I was quite impressed. I was a little afraid of some negative reviews regarding the size of the mirror. I can truly say, How much of your face can you look at that closely at one time? It's a perfect size. The magnification is quite clear. The base stays securely on the countertop. I did not mount it to the mirror as in the product pictures. I love that there is no cord to always take up an outlet space or have the cord on the vanity top. I will edit this review when I have to change the batteries. (I hope they last) I use daily applying eye makeup. I had an $80 Conair mirror that did nothing but sit out on the counter, attract dust and hairspray. The cord was in the way, getting tangled with the blow dryer cord. This mirror has better quality than the Conair brand. More of the reflection is in focus.

Good product for the price!
This mirror is a good product for the price. The suction mechanism is very sturdy; no matter which way or how often I swivel it, I never feel that it might come off. Some have mentioned the cheap materials; it is plastic, but in my mind it's good that it is lightweight. If it were heavy glass and metal, the suction probably wouldn't work as well. I have it fastened to the outside glass wall of our shower stall, which has no overhead light. The mirror provides plenty of light and strong magnification. I am very nearsighted, so the 10x magnification is great for putting on makeup. If you're used to a larger or more "standard" size mirror, be aware that the area of the mirror itself is a little over 5 inches. So if you are expecting to be able to see your whole face magnified at once, this won't do it. But again, for putting on makeup I think it is perfect.
