Smells great! Easy to scatter by hand even. Good coverage. Used for chickens and rabbits
I bought this as flooring/bedding for my outdoors animals (7 hens and 3 rabbits) as a "last resort" because I couldn't get hay locally or online during the coronavirus pandemic. I will now be re-ordering this stuff on a regualr basis. It smells so good, I feel like storing it the house to use as air freshener! After using this stuff, it was the cleanest my 12ftx12ft run has ever looked (and smelled!).It is a bit "crunchier" and sharper than hay or sawdust, so be prepared for that. Saying that, it was not so jaggy that I had any problem handling it with bare hands. I just mean it is not as soft as hay or sawdust. Due to this, you may still have to use hay or straw on top for a softer bedding. Also, rabbits (and horses) will not be able to use this as food as they do with hay. It is more useful for covering the floor of runs and stables, or the bottom of coops and hutches. If I owned horses, then I would definitely use this stuff in stables underfoot too, obviously in addition to hay for feeding.Wonderful product. Lovely surprise find for me. Will be buying again and again, especially in the colder months for the run floor.

Chicken bedding
Great bedding for our chicken coop. Smells great and gets a great coverage. Plan to use for deep litter method so time will tell. We bought 2 bales and have only used half a bale for initial coverage. Coop is 1.8x1.8m with about 2 inch deep covering. The chickens seem happy with it and scratch around in it. Not good for nest boxes as chickens just scatter it everywhere.Seller posted quickly and only one arrived. Contacted seller via email and they had the issue sorted within the hour. It was a dpd error. The seller then phoned me to explain the error, The second bale arrived the next day. Will buy the product and use the seller again.

Not great for my rats.
The item consists of hard shards. Could easily scratch an eye or give splinters to you or your small pet if you're unlucky! Nothing bad has happened to them so far but I've poked myself painfully whilst grabbing handfuls to put into the cage's trays. I would return the item if possible due to this but it's far too heavy and hard to carry if you're short. I feel this would be great for other small animals that are less prone to accidents.

good to freshen up the chicken house
wouldn't use it all the time as quite expensive but good for a change and to freshen the air.

god send for our Guinea pig boys!
Got this for the guinea pigs as the usual 1 we buy was unavailable. It was also £5 cheaper than the usual 1.It arrived quickly and I was very impressed to say the least. We used much less of this than we normally do of our usual stuff, it's not wood shavings as such, more like chippens. It's good at absorbing, we have 4 boys and the cage can get smelly after a couple of days, but so far no nasty smell!Safe to say I'm converted and will be buying this again.

Less waste than straw.
We use this instead of straw in our chicken nest area. It is very easy to clean out with little waste. It smells fresh and sweet. We use to get through loads of straw which was much more difficult to keep clean.
