Village Green Ready To Use Wood Stain - Wood Dye - 28 Colours - Super High Pigment Content Water Based (1 Litre, Basil)

Having read the reviews on this product I was pretty excited to try it out but I am sooooooo disappointed with the results.My first issues was that it was dark, much darker than the picture, but I thought it might soak in and dry up a little lighter.....it didn't.Secondly, every single brush stroke was visible. It didn't soak in like other stains I've used, the consistency was like a very watered down paint. As it was so dark, I was reluctant to put it on too heavy as I hadn't wanted it so dark, however I tried a second layer to see if the brush marks would get covered up...they didn't.As it was so dark, once dry, I decided I'd sand it back a little, hoping that the stain would have soaked in and sanding it would take away the brush strokes and lighten the colour....I was wrong; it came off instantly and was like powder! Again, giving a very paint like feeling.And the final disappointment is that the pigment hadn't soaked into the wood whatsoever, just into the cracks. So now I've ended up with wood that looks absolutely filthy; where the wood was smooth, it's almost back to it's original colour (without having to put any effort into sanding it - using a fine grit sander), and where there were cracks/knots, it just looks dirty.I'm kind of lost with what to do next as it'll take a lot of effort to get it sanded back past the knots/cracks :-(I don't know if I got a dud bottle with wrong ratios of chemicals, but jeppers the end result is bad!

Quick delivery and safely packed. I got this for my bathroom door and I got the finish I was looking for, although it took the whole bottle to achieve that. I had to buy another bottle as the door got damaged. You couldn't notice the repair work it blended in great.

Delivery was fast, and package was in excellent condition. I only purchased the 250ml of this wood stain, as a tester, however it has totally surprised me with what I have achieved so far. It goes a long way as other reviews have mentioned, and I have finished a bathroom display unit, a wood mirror frame and a surface top to a draw unit. The colour is a soft bluish/lavender grey, very pretty. Will be purchasing more soon.

Quick delivery. Very easy to apply. Quick to dry. Goes a long way. Beautiful colour can look a bit blue in certain light . Very pleased with the overall effect.

This is very thin and item you are working on will need two coats. However, it has given a lovely finish and I am delighted with the results. It is important to prepare the wood properly and get rid of any old varnish. I didn't do this as well as I should have done but it has still covered ok and I really love the two tone effect it gives of the grey colour with wood showing through. I put a clear wax on once dry just to protect it, as the instructions suggested..In my view an excellent product and good value with clear instructions.

Excellent product. Not much of a handyman. But I sanded my pine table. Applied this with sponge. Three coats of varnish. Looks amazing. Modern and cool

This wood stain was easy to apply and a good light grey colour, not dull at all. I needed to apply two coats, then finished off with a matt white varnish. It goes a long way. Very pleased with the result.

Looks great gave a fully stripped pine table 3 coats put on with a normal paint brush then sprayed with lacquer once it was dry 5 stars looks professional !!!
