Genuine Toyota Parts 69220-35030 Exterior Driver Side Front Door Handle

You can just feel the difference in the material, and after installing it you can feel the difference in how smooth this one opens. I had an off brand 20$ one I installed 6 months ago, and I decided to invest in the original part so I wouldn't have to constantly spend an hour+ changing the door handle out every 6-12 months.

Yes, easy to install because I had practice with other brands of door handles that were made to fit the truck. Neither of the 2 aftermarket handles I previously installed made it through sub-zero weather. In fairness, neither did the first one that came installed on said truck. Difference is: it took 12 years to break the original. The two copies each broke within 2 year periods. Since I'm keeping the truck if I can, I went back to a Toyota branded handle. The worst time to be essentially locked out of your truck may be in the middle of a blizzard.

Glad I paid the money for a genuine Toyota product as this is a somewhat difficult item to install. If you are doing it for the first time, watch a youtube video.

I installed this in my 99 Tacoma a couple weeks ago after my original handle broke off in the freezing temps. This is a sturdy, quality handle that fit my truck as it should. I have no reason to believe it won't hold up over time. I chose this handle because the reviews of the cheap version had people replacing them again soon after installation, so I opted for quality. So far so good.

This 'genuine' part immediately failed upon installation. Turns out a machined lever inside that allows the door to open was bent so that it slid over the mechanism that unlocks the door instead of pushing it down. Due the way it's manufacture, there's no way to bend it back.I ended up needing to reinstall the tired but functional $10 cheapie that this $95 'quality' part was supposed to replace. I expect a refund but that won't get me the lost hours I had disassembling the door and swapping the handles twice. This is by far the most grievous product failure I've had in 15 years with Amazon.DO NOT BUY THIS PART!

Read all the reviews on after market handles and decided to go genuine. It was the Cheapest of the "Genuine" parts so of course I purchased it over it's competitor.
