The pump is activated by a pressure switch. When the tap or appliance is turned on, the pressure drops and the switch is activated. Try adjusting the pre-charge pressure in the accumulator to 3-4 psi lower than the pump pressure switch. The pump also has a leak hunting feature. This may cause it to switch on and off periodically especially if there is a leak or pressure loss in the tap or pipework. The manufacturer website has a full downloadable installation guide that may help.
