Helps Keep Gutters and Downspouts Open
Gutters on the backside of my house are 22 feet above the ground and impossible for me to reach. Leaves get in the gutters, drain through the downspouts and clog the drain lines causing very serious problems. Not any more, at least not yet anyway. I installed these on the three highest downspouts at ground level and now the water washes leaves out of the gutter, through the downspout and the leaves are screened out by the Leaf Eaters just before the water enters the drain lines. I have purchased 4 more of these Rain Harvesting Leaf Eaters for the remainder of my downspouts but haven't had the time to install them yet. As of right now, it looks like this may be a vastly superior solution to clogged gutters than any kind of gutter leaf guard on the market and at a tiny fraction of the cost. Tiny! If I start to get clogs in the gutters themselves, I will go to larger downspouts to aid the passage of leaves from the gutters. Right at 100% of the water goes through these Leaf Eaters and into the drain lines. I just clean the Leaf Eaters after each rain. Takes about 5 seconds for each one. At this point, it looks like this will be one of the best and most successful purchases I have ever made.

Working like a charm
My Leaf Eater is working just like I had hoped. The only shortcoming I've seen is that the screen fits inside of the lower lip. So, some leaves tend to get stuck there instead of sliding off. This creates a bit of a log jam of leaves. It has not hurt the performance and/or purpose, but does mean I have to climb up to clean the leaves off occasionally.

Total Failure
I have two oak trees that over hang my house. When the squirrels harvest acorns they bite off the ends of branches and make a mess of the roof. This gets into the gutters and downspouts. There has been two blockages of downspouts already and I thought I would give this a try. It did not work at all.We had a hard rain just after I finished the installation. And before that I had cleaned the gutters of the larger debris. The oak leaves hit the screen and just stick there. The rushing water from the heavy rain just splashes off the leaves and onto the ground. I estimate no more than 20 percent of the gutter water was making into the downspout. It made a mess.I wish this had worked, but if you have oak trees over your house I do not recommend this.

Happy so far
These rain heads were easy to install and seem to be doing their job. We installed them near ground level so we can clean them without having to use a ladder. We mainly accumulate spruce needles, and these screens are working well for that.

Very well designed
I installed a 330 gallon IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) to catch rain water. This product is doing a perfect job straining the tree litter out of the rain water before it enters my IBC. Very easy to clean. I love seeing the water rushing into storage tank through this leaf eater product. I can see it out the kitchen window. If you are catching rain water, this is a much have item.

very easy to set up and works extremely good
Works amazingly well! I did end up putting a piece of winder screen over top of the existing grill to make it filter even smaller. All in all, very easy to set up and works extremely good!

New design
I used these 5 years ago that did not have the clips securing the top screen. These are much improved.
