There was another version of this stick that had a tymp mallet on the other end. No idea why those are no longer available?These are very lively sticks. They do well in very quiet passages, the shape of the bead makes for an articulate stroke. Being close to a B stick in diameter, they are easy to hold. The unique shape of the taper contributes to it use for delicate passages. But, you can easily play the other end of the dynamic range.I think I’ll have no problem show music with these. But, they are maple. I don’t intend to use them for slamming rock, pop, or blues.The version with the mallet is/was perfect for getting a round sound when you play toms as tymp in show tunes. And when you need to get a cymbal swell, these are just a bit on the mellow side. When you have a bunch of things to do in a show, you only need one pair of sticks. No having to switch to mallets is great!!

I really love these sticks, I’m a college music student and I love these since High school. They’re somewhat light with a nice sphere tip and they have a somewhat 2b like thickness which makes it nice for a full ensemble.

Great bass drum mallet when you need to make a statement. Purchased specifically for Overture of 1812 and it doesn't disappoint.
