12 Etudes, Op. 25: Piano Solo (Musical Expeditions)

I like this edition because you get Cortot's notes and suggestions for conquering technical difficulties in the Etudes. As far as I know there are no inaccuracies in the score itself, unlike some of the other editions of the Chopin Etudes. It is great for studying. I have 2 editions of the Etudes, and also of Chopin's Ballads. I encourage my students to get these as well. I have a doctorate in piano performance, and teach at a university and also privately. I used the Cortot edition when I was performing many of the Etudes and the Ballads, and found it very helpful.

The book is the same format as Op. 10. The books are actually part of a set. It is a valuable asset to have both of the Cortot editions. Op. 10 and Op. 25. Like Op. 10 it is excellent supplemental material for anyone interested in and studying the Chopin Etudes. The book also includes the Etudes along with practice exercises with each study for developing the technique for mastering the technical challenges of the study.

A wonderful edition of the Chopin etudes. Cortot offers detailed explanations of technical requirements, ideas for conquering the significant difficulties, and preliminary exercises to be practiced along with the etudes. It is an outstanding edition.

Excellent publication. Useful to both amateurs and professionals. Cortot gives many fingering options in table form, entirely apart from the score itself. Additionally, there is piece-by-piece instruction and useful exercises. Think of this book as a series of piano lessons from Cortot himself!

A real service to pianists keeping in print Cortot's directives with regard to the Etudes. The exercises really assist in the learning and execution of the pieces.

This is by far the best par none. The ergonomics of Cortot fingering recommendations are priceless and serve each pianist well regardless of level of expertise.
