It pumps air or water so make sure you connect it properly. It is very loud I had to remote mount it to reduce noise level in my boat, using it to keep bait alive. The connectors are not designed to work on standard American size aquarium tubing.I solved this by using a drinking straw it fits over the connector and inserting the tubing into the straw and using glue to hold it all together.

Best bang for the buck
These are the best little aerator ever. I read a lot of the reviews about how loud they are. So if you put a check valve in the intake it hardly makes any noise. It's the best 10$ I have spent. Thanks again

Used this as part of a DIY evap leak detector.Only used 3 times, title of 1 hr, maybe.In that time, still works great!

Very noisy!
Yes it works but WOW, how can such a small device be SO NOISY? I would guess 90db. This will be in the garbage tomorrow.
