Waterproof Membrane for Bathrooms and Shower Rooms (5" x 33')

I was doing a DIY project to tile my bathroom floor using the Schluter Ditra underlayment. I wished to use this membrane to seal the junctions between the underlayment and where the bath tub meets the floor. However, this product did not at all work for that purpose. The main issue is here: the membrane is thick and so resilient. Nothing (I used the Schluter Set-All mortar) could held it with the right angle between the bath tub and the floor. It kept spring back. In addition, the membrane is thick and can add about 1-2 mm height above the underlayment. I ended up taking away all I had laid on the floor. This product is poorly designed (a thinner type should work better) and useless to me. Unfortunately I have already cut the membrane, otherwise I would have returned it.

Schlueter is great stuff. Expensive. Pay attention to what you are doing. Most folks don't let it dry long enough, imo. 12 hours ain't sufficient. Especially when you are bonding to kerdi cloth. It takes 48 hours or so. It needs to be dried before tiling.

I bought this because it was listed as “Amazon’s choice for Schulter ditra membrane. I did not realize that it was a non schulter product until I installed it. It stretched by about 2” during installation. The Schulter membrane does not stretch. Not happy.

It's not the easiest thing to do, but I saved a ton of money doing the job myself. This membrane is perfect for waterproofing behind the tile

It did the job. It is required for properly installing a Schluter heated floor.

I'm pleased with this membrane. It has good waterproofing properties and was easy enough to install with my thin set.
