Love this thing!
My husband and I just got back from a 2 week long road trip. We both have insulin pens and he has eye drops that all needed to be kept cool. I charged the Frio the night before we left home and put our things inside. It lasted the whole entire first week and was still cool inside! For good measure, I soaked/re-charged it again at the beginning of the second week and it was still very cool when we arrived back home even after it being in a hot car some days while we were parked at some National Parks. Absolutely NO NEED in buying a cooler and continuously having to buy ice or freeze ice packs anymore. I highly recommend this Frio wallet. It is well worth the money.

Not a convenient product
There were several things that I found that I did not like about the product. I purchased this product based on other parent's recommendation and knew nothing about it prior to purchase. I followed the instructions to a T, as I was using if for my son's insulin. First, I didn't realize that the product had to steps to be done in order for it to be prepared, I seriously thought it went in the freezer. This doesn't appeal to me, to make me want to use it on a more regular basis. Sorry, but there are times I make last minute plans and this product isn't ready quickly. Next, to me, even with the external cover, the bag still felt damp/moist, so I ended up placing it in a plastic bag so it wouldn't make other things wet. Also, I don't know if it is supposed to feel "cold" to the touch, but to me, it felt "cool" at best, not cold. This made me nervous to how well it would withstand the heat, as we were using it for an outdoor school field trip. Finally, I didn't realize how long this product took to dry out, talk about it being highly inconvenient. I looked on the website to verify, a total of 2-4 weeks! Mine was about 3 weeks. Where am I supposed to keep this while it dries?! It sat on my kitchen table the whole time while I consistently rotated it and patted it dry. Now it feels hard as a rock, not sure if that's normal either. For me, this product isn't convenient in the very least. I want something that is readily available, that can quickly and easily be packed and that I don't have to do so much in order to use it.

Innovative Product Which Allows Me to Travel for Long Periods Without My Insulin Going Bad and Spoiling
These Frio Insulin Cooling Cases have been life savers for me while on vacation or other travel, especially if I am staying in accommodations where there is no refrigerator, which is usually the case.I have a variety of different size cases, depending on how many insulin epi pens I need to take with me.These cases do a great job of keeping my insulin epi pens at a 'safe' temperature to prevent them from spoiling. They work using evaporation to keep the epi pens cool. The case consists of two bags made of โbreathableโ fabric. The inner bag contains crystals, locked in place, which when the bag is immersed in water for several minutes, will expand and absorb a lot of water. The inner bag is then placed in the breathable outer bag, both of which have Velcro flaps to keep them closed. When the water held by the crystals slowly evaporates from the inner bag, heat is removed from the epi pens, keeping them cool and at a safe temperature so the insulin will not spoil and go bad.It is important to keep the cases in a place where the water can evaporate (when the water evaporates, heat is pulled away from the epi pens) and cool off the epi pens, so don't for example keep them in a plastic zip lock bag, for example, or other non-breathable bag, as the water will not be able to evaporate.I keep my cases in the mesh water bottle holder of my back pack. However, I find it a good idea to use a safety pin through the outside case to secure it to the webbing on the water bottle holder to ensure it does not fall out. These cases have resolved a huge problem for me -- how do I keep my insulin at a safe temperature while traveling when I do not have access to a freezer so I can refreeze the ice packs that I normally carry with me to keep my insulin cold when I am not on vacation?.The cases can be reused many, many times by re-immersing the inner case in cold water, allowing the crystals to absorb more water. They will not last forever. After a couple of years, the crystals will absorb less water and the cases will need to be replaced.Note that some reviewers have criticized these cases for not keeping the insulin colder. I have found they will keep insulin at a temperature of 68 degrees or so when traveling in temperatures of about 95 degrees. These will not keep your insulin as cold as if they were in the refrigerator, but the insulin in an epi pen, once you start using it, should be stored at temperatures in the 60's / low 70โs anyway (please read your insulin makers instructions for what temperature they should be stored at).

Disappointed. Better for insulin needles. Temperature not consistent.
Did not fit my injection needles as was described. Temperature did not hold the meds gold long enough. Disappointed.

It didn't feel that cold to me, but it ...
It didn't feel that cold to me, but it is the only insulin protector that I have heard of. I hope that it protected my insulin, was quite hot out so I was running high anyway, but could have been because my insulin got too hot as well. Not sure.

Frio cooling bags are great
Great product... had to replace one I purchased years ago-was taking too long for water to absorb into the beads (1.5 hrs). New one just takes 20-25 minutes. Gave it 4 stars because I ordered a burgundy and got black... no big deal.
