Backyard Kilns: A guide on how to build a Philosopher's Kiln Kindle Edition

Had all the info one could need for building a backyard kiln for doing larger metal work (like leaf-spring size for swords, etc.). Buy it if this is what you want to do but be aware, you may not be allowed to build one in your neighborhood. They are large and entirely made of brick without mortar.

this book is giving me exactly the information I was looking for.Simple kiln without many complicated explanation which inspire to make one without be afraid.

An interesting book. Would love to build one of these kilns. Just need some open space away from neighbors though.

poorly written and illustrated

Good and informative book

This book sets out the daunting task of building and firing a kiln with clear and mostly comprehensive directions and ideas. A bit of humour helps the fairly clear to-do lists get done. He starts with basic discussions of what a we're a doing here following through to finally closing down. The diagrams and photos integrate nicely, helping but not overwhelming. Useful bibliographies and list of suppliers and possible mentors.
