I drink 15 cups of organic coffee daily
Yes, aware of risks, but I sleep like Tibetan Monk, & > 6 cups daily has shown to reduce all cause motality & mobidity. For years bought from same small firm, where they bought from small growers from different parts of the world. This brand seems similar.Best comment: we will re-order.

The Bean Coffee Company Organic Le Bean, Dark... The Bean Coffee Company
Yes, it's not bad. If you like a more "robust" flavor, --this is what I'd say about this one.The Bean is a bit more oily (natural to be oily, not an issue, just say'in), than others if concerned about your grinder, -- real fine tooth grinder is fine after two bags so far. I grind, always, as rough as I can.Regardless of robust flavor, I don't notice any "negative" side effects. Some equate flavor with caffein content which I believe to be incorrect, --so, that would be true with this selection. For me, the price was reasonable, and all the rest to consider with it, -- so give it a 4.There is a slight bitterness, just a hint which I can not "brew out", time/temp effect. I would otherwise consider a rare 5, from me, anyway. From me a 4 is as good as it gets unless truly mind blowing in some way. -- Me, I've been drinking coffee life long and the last 10 years or so, via fresh ground, real coffee grinder not blades, -- cup by cup and from my all stainless steel french press. The money I save by self grinding like that et al., made the $200 Press and Grinder a bargain. And, -- all my cheap coffee, instant coffee migranes stopped almost immediately which was an unexpected surprise, unexpected effect I like to note in general.

The best value in coffee so far
I learned to drink coffee in the Navy, so it was a long time before I learned that it didn't have to taste like battery acid, or have similar gastronomic effects.I started with Pete's and Seattle's Best, graduated upward to some excellent local roasters, and then after moving out to The Boonies, tried about every organic coffee on Amazon. Medium, dark, espresso, french roast, Italian roast, from nearly every corner of the globe; you name it, we tried it.Then I stumbled upon the Bean Company, which attracted me initially because it is located close to home. Think global, invest local, I say. We tried several of their roasts, and this one wins hands down. We use a Capresso burr grinder and a Saeco espresso maker, extra fine grind, compressed 40 pounds, and about a 25-second draw. Pure bliss. Perfect balance, perfect roast. Dark, yes, but never burnt. The French roast makes a better espresso than their espresso beans do, at least with our setup. Can you get better coffee? Yes. Definitely, but not for anywhere near the same price. I had a shot of espresso at Stumptown's in Portland last year that sent me out of this world, but so did the sticker shock. The Bean Coffee Co. french roast, on the other hand, is so cheap and so good that nothing comes close in value. You could spend 3-4 times as much, and not be as good. We've gone through about 30 pounds so far, with amazing consistency, and I bet we go through hundreds more.UPDATE (September 26, 2013): We've now gone through at least 60 pounds of this, and still drink it almost every day. Once it was not available for our usual regular shipment, but otherwise has been dependable as can be. I keep trying other coffees, but have yet to find a better value.

Dark Espresso
The bean quality and roast quality of this bean is a step above the average bean at this price point, but the darkness was a little more than expected. There seems to be a lot of ambiguity when buying a French Roast, so much that it's hard to gauge it's true meaning of darkness. This bean falls more into the category of an Italian Roast, being truly darker than the majority of French Roast's that I have tried in the past, mind you this is labeled as a "Dark French Roast".Remember, there is no such thing as an Espresso Roast, just blends. This bean does a great job at producing a quality / smooth espresso pull every time so far. You do need to grind it a lot finer than you would a mild bean, and don't expect the caffeine quality to be high (Darker the bean, the lower the caffeine). I pull a 28 second shots on a Gaggia Classic using a Virtuosa Percisio Grinder at setting 9k, and tamping with a Rattleware 58mm Tamper with roughly 30 lbs of applied pressure to the puck. The taste as said is smooth, but only for those who enjoy a strong, very bold, espresso drink. Makes wonderful Machiottos and Dupio Espresso though, be watching for a shot of the beans shortly.

This is a strong but flavorful organic coffee
The taste of coffee is very, very subjective.Years ago I used to drink 8 O'clock coffee, no longer. This is a strong, delicious organic coffee that we love. I would compare it to Starbucks dark French roast - but this is much more flavorful.Update 7 Aug 2016We go through a 5 lb. bag about every 5 or 6 weeks and really love this coffee. We also like the fact that it's organic since I've read that coffee is one of the most frequently sprayed products on the market today.Another update 3 July 2018This coffee is consistently the best we've ever had. We are so used to drinking this great coffee we don't go out for coffee any longer since there is no place that can make a cup of coffee like we make at home.

I absolutely love a strong
I absolutely love a strong, rich cup(s) of coffee each morning but since I drink a lot of it, I also wanted to make sure I was not gulping down unwanted toxins & chemicals. The Bean ORGANIC coffee is the answer. The big bag is very economical and I can drink as much fabulous coffee as I want. I get the whole bean and grind it each morning, but I got a bag of ground coffee once by mistake and was quite surprised how long it stayed fresh. A score of 100 percent for this coffee!!!!!

Great coffee. Dark, bold, and earthy.
I really enjoyed this coffee. It came on time and well packaged. For flavour, it is a bit dark and earthy so you must really enjoy a bold roast. The beans were slightly oily inside the package and they produced a nice crema in my french press.I was interested in the amount of time between roasting and shipping so I emailed The Bean directly to ask about timeframes between roasting and shipping. They said it's somewhat out of their control when bought on Amazon because it can be in the Amazon warehouse for a while. But I ordered it March 9th and it arrived with a "best before" date of July 3rd and did not taste stale. My wife and I both enjoyed it and I plan to buy it again.

Taste is in the mouth of the beholder
Not my place to judge food because we are all different but over all it was OK not something I would order again but I am happy I tried something new. Go for it.
