This is a high-end outdoor jacket. It is extremely warm - I tested it last winter in Norway. Once the hood is up the weather protection is fantastic. Pockets are great, zips are excellent, hood adjusters offer a great range of fit. Yep, top quality.

Thanks for the great service, I was looking for a fully waterproof, down insulated coat and after lots of research found the Rab Valiance. After watching review videos online, I decided it was the best option for me. I spent plenty of time shopping around different companies online and before I placed my order elsewhere, curiously I found the jacket on Amazon for £232, being sold by LD Mountain Centre in Newcastle. I'm local to Newcastle myself so to support a local, independent retailer, selling the jacket for £58 cheaper than anywhere else I had seen online was a no brainer. Delivery was cheap and very quick. I'm 6'4" and ordered a large, it fits well but the arms a tiny bit long but I can manage with them. The coat is extremely light in weight but very warm. I can't recommend the service LD offered and the jacket.

Where to start on a fantastic warm waterproof down jacket. This is the warmest coat I have ever worn. With the 800 fill goose down and it's box wall construction with taped seems and the pertex outer treated shell make it the ultimate warm waterproof down jacket there is! Can handle any weather the UK can throw at it and more if you were to take it anywhere colder I'm sure. I bought medium sized jacket I am 5ft 10 and have a waist 32 inch I weigh 10 stone and the jacket fits me perfectly with plenty of room to wear a mid layer with it. Im in a wheelchair so I don't do any walking keeps me Plenty warm just sat there on my chair without the rain or wind penetrating the jacket. It's got a great set of pockets plenty of room in them to keep your hands warm or for anything else you need to store in there with waterproof zips. And a good size inner pocket for mobile phones and glasses. Also a great warm Hood that can be fully adjustable with the draw chords on the side of the head and the back of the hood to make it a comfortable fit without it blowing around in the wind. All in all highly recommended jacket.

I bought it for my bf as a present as I have the same in lady size and we are both very happy. It’s comfortable and keeps us dry in wet weather and warm in extreme cold too (-20 with normal base layer and top). Very happy with the quality and the stuff pack is a bonus

I have been looking for this coat for a while. I tried a different colour on instore and was waiting for the price to come down then i saw the black on here. The coat is very warm. I am a large in clothes and i ordered a large in the coat. It is a very good fit. The stitching, zip etc are good quality. I like the bag that comes with it allowing me to store it.

This jacket does everything it promised; keeps you very warm and is waterproof! I did wonder why I was able to get the jacket for such a great price ( £80 less than the Rab website) and think it was because of internal zip not being aligned and so broke easily! Happy and very cosy otherwise!

Great coat, light but the warmest ever, best I have had ever (and I am 76 so have had a lot of coats over the years) . Wind, rain it copes with anything.

I really like this jacket for everything that it is. Warm! Waterproof! And not too puffy! Fit was just right, and I don’t think you’d need many if any layers underneath beyond a T shirt and be comfortable 0 and above. Waterproof fabric is great in such a warm jacket so you don’t need a layering system which is what I wanted. My only issue with the jacket was the hood, some of the other RAB jackets had a hood role for when not in use, this jacket does not. Also the material inside the hood was very noisy against my ears, making it very hard to hear when walking. I know it’s a hood and will block some sound but it was just noticeably louder than other jackets I tried with hoods. But it is waterproof so it will save you in the wet, and you don’t need an outer shell. It’s a really great jacket and solves all layering issues in one well designed and well fitting jacket. My only design change would be removable hood or rollable hood storage of some sort, I think that would add to the versatility of the coat to be worn for more general uses other than extremes which this jacket can obviously handle.

I love the coat. But the zipper is on the wrong side. Not a big deal really, but isn't this a woman's style coat? I've never had a coat with the zipper on the left side.
