But why so expensive? Nothing worse that threading a size 20 midge up to your waist in moving water. Desperation.

I was skeptical about spending $20 for what looked like a toy, but with it being almost impossible to find the eye of the small fly fishing hooks I knew I needed something. This thing really works, I’ve tied several bead heads and the smallest fly was a size #18 adams dryfly. The eyes fit in the slot and the tippet slides right through. If you’re struggling threading those small hooks with those thin tippets, I highly recommend this product.

Tried gently inserting and inserting with more pressure. Fly would hold in slot, but even in bright sunlight, I could not see through the slot. 5x tipped would not got through the eye at all.I had high hopes, but this product is a dud.

This tool completely solved my problem with threading flies. Works on small flies and bead heads. I can now thread a size 20 with 6x tippet and don’t need magnifying glasses. I found the trick to be that the tippet must be very straight and the end cut at a 45 degree angle. Highly recommend.

This thing really works. I decided to try it out with a size 24, fly and 5, weight tippet material at home before heading outdoors with it. The fly was easy to insert into the appropriate slot and the magnet held it firmly in place. Amazingly I was able to pass the tippet material through the hole in the "Threader" on the second try and sure enough the fly was successfully threaded. More importantly when setting up my rod out in the field the "Threader" was easy to use. If you have to spend what feels like too much time getting small flies threaded onto light weight tippet material, you should give this device serious consideration. I will comment that when I ordered it I wasn't sure that it was actually worth $20, I figured I could always return it if I wasn't happy with it. However, it is well made, does what it is intended to do extremely well and is very easy to use. Just take the time to practice with it at home.

This product is great. Well worth the price instead of fiddling around with small flies. I saw one review that said it doesn't work on beadheaded nymphs. That's nonsense - it works perfectly fine for me.
