This is the replica version of the kukri carried by Gurkhas in hand-to-hand combat in the Jungle of Burma during the 2nd World War. It is Historic Kukri. This Khukuri was originated in Nepal but later Indian Gurkha Army applied it. The blade is heavier and more curved then the current Kukri issued to Gurkhas. In the wartime, the sight of this formidable Khukuri in the hands of the Gurkha soldiers was enough to bring the enemy at their wit's ends. This Kukri is a very famous knife among tourists and collectors because of the fact that it was actually used by Gurkha soldiers/army during world wars. This Kukri knife played a very significant role in creating the history of the Gurkhas. This Kukri is also great to use for any kind of heavy or light duty. The water poured temper on the blade makes it very strong. The blade is made of highly graded carbon steel (mostly used in railway tracks). The overall length of the blade is 16.5” while the blade is 11” long and 5-inch rose wood handle. Besides carrying the knife in war time, this blade can be used to chop wood or bone cleaning bushes.

Thin tang snapped into handle
The thing snapped off the handle after cutting down a few small shrubs and small trees. Unuseable right now this was a month after the return window closed. Do not buy this thing

Deadly right out the box!
Let's make two things clear:1. Kukri Knifes were used by the Nepalese army as standard issue for combat, they're a knife and machete.2. I am a 6'2" man with hands that can fill a large glove snugly. With that said, THIS BLADE IS AMAZING! IT MAKES MY HANDS LOOK SMALL!!The blade near the hilt is 3/8" in thickness, giving it weight and power to its swing. And although it has a few "flaws" from being hand-made, I actually find the imperfections charming! Practically an instant heirloom. But probably the best part (for me) is that this blade was very thoughtfully prepared and stored! Since it was going to be stored in an Amazon warehouse for an indefinite period of time, the blade was coated in light oil to prevent rust! And they gave the blade a good edge too! You could use it right out of the box!

Perfect multi tool (and it looks awesome to boot)
This guy right here is the perfect multi tool being your axe, machete, camp knife and more all in one. And it doesn't hurt that it looks absolutely bad @$$ whilst welding it.My husband uses it for chopping huge logs into smaller pieces for campfires using the baton method, and absolutely destroys 1-2 inch saplings and branches with 2 or less swings. All this impressive chopping is made all the more brilliant that he also makes the perfect feather sticks with this big guy too.As previous reviews have mentioned, this isn't the pretty perfect knives that come from factories, you can see and respect the hand craftsmanship that went into making this quality blade. The two smaller blades (I forget their actual names) are incredibly handy. One is for honing the blades edge, while the other serves as a mini knife. We used this for widiling spoons, opening thick packages, slicing steak, basically anything your normal Swiss army or Leatherman blade would do and more. All the blades are secure in place, with their wonderfully crafted Buffalo leather sheath.Overall, we both are immensely happy and impressed with the purchase, he's actually looking at getting a smaller one to carry on through hikes as this guy weighs a bit(more than a bit) more than you'd want to carry on 100+ miles of hiking. If you're looking at this, I HIGHLY suggest you take the plunge and get it. Worth every penny.

Genuine Gurkha Kukri Knife
This Kukri arrived ahead of time and exceeded my expectations, it is a beautiful work of art. It's also a heavy work of art. This particular knife is called a Service 1 which means it is a reproduction of a standard issue given to Gurkha fighters during WWII so it's not just a work of art but a piece of history as well. The blade of high carbon steel is highly polished and the handle is of blackwater buffalo horn. This is no factory job but has been pounded out by hand by villagers working in primitive conditions as the you-tube videos will show. Because it is hand made it will have minor imperfections but, on mine, the blade was perfect. The spine of the blade was 7/16 inch wide and is of a soft Rockwell hardness. The middle part of the blade is a bit harder and the edge is the hardest, Because of the various hardness the base of the blade has what I call a Spanish notch which hives flexibility to the blade when it hits something hard, the notch also has a religious aspect to it giving the knife a sacred touch. Traditionally Kukris are made with a "rat-tail" tang which is secured at the base of the handle with a diamond shaped cap for durability so don't think you are getting a cheap "tourist" toy because it doesn't have a full tang. The Kukri I received was not "razor sharp." Because of its weight it doesn't have to be. It's sharp enough though and, because of its carbon content, it can be sharpened more. It comes with a plain black sheath (standard issue) of buffalo hide over wood base. The sheath contains two miniature knives. One can be used for delicate work but the other one isn't really a knife but is used as a sharpening steel to be used between regular sharpenings, oh boy! If this knife were sold in the United States it would probably cost over $300 so this a really good deal for knife enthusiasts and collectors.

I love this knife
Wow! I love this knife! From the moment you take it out of the box and feel the heft of it in your hand, you know severalthings at once: 1. If you swung it hard enough, it just might cut through a Buick. 2. It is truly handmade, complete with slightly pockmarked (but nicely polished) HUGE blade that only adds to its mystique and sense of raw cutting power. 3. THIS is the knife you want, in the event of the Zombie Apocalypse. Honestly, if I'd known it was such a neat knife, I would've bought one years ago. Call it a "guy thing", but I show it off to every guy friend who comes to the house.....it is THAT cool. The handle is silky-smooth also and a pleasure to grip. If you ever need to get up and face things that "go bump in the night", and you don't have a firearm handy, this is your weapon. And if I were somehow forced to "bring a knife to a gunfight" as the old joke goes....this Kukri knife might just carry the day. By the way, there are several Youtube videos that give instruction as to its use in self-defense. If you're a guy, and you like guns and knives even a LITTLE bit, get this.

Great Collectors & Utility Knife
I added this knife to my collection for the history and craftmanship behind these superb knives. It has a thick spine and a sharp edge. There are a few imperfections in the handle but that verifies it's authenticity as hand-made. I plan on using this knife and just keep it displayed as a conversation piece. Dhanyavād

Amazing value for the price
Got the knife and immediately noticed the truly handmade rough quality. It was exactly as expected and to say it is heavy duty is an understatement! The imperfections are what make it special. Sheath fits and the hefty knife feels like it could handle a zombie hoard . If you're looking for mass produced perfection this is not for you. To me, it looks like a treasure I would find in my grandfather's basement. Love it! Buying the full tang version to replace my wimpy machete

Beautiful weapon
Balance is absolutely perfect. It is light and nimble and likely the best edged home defense weapon on the market. I own four other Kukris but this baby is parked by the front door and its twin by the back door. I live in Canada where it is illegal to use a gun on a home invader with a fire arm. We tested both blades on bones shortly after they arrived and the edges did not turn after hacking through a ham bone. I don't plan to cut wood with these, have the Kukri "beast' for that. All in all, it is a fin weapon and you will not be disappointed.
