First, kudos to the vendor. I ordered the book on a Wednesday, shipped by regular mail, and got it on Saturday. I'd recommend them to anyone.As for the book itself, if you're familiar with the Society of Biblical Literature - the SBL - you KNOW it's going to be a great resource for scholars and laypeople alike. The Samaritan Pentateuch has been something of an orphan text to all but specialists. Even if you know nothing about it, it will bring you up to today (May 2022) in its pages. As an amateur researcher with 50+ years experience in the field, I'm rereading it a lot. Among other things, they discuss the "pluriformity" of Biblical texts of the era. Among the ancient texts - the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Septuagint (LXX), the Syriac Peshitta, the various Aramaic Targums - the Samaritan Pentateuch emerges as a vital part of 21st century Biblical scholarship.

Though I've been aware of the Samaritans from the Bible stories I really didn't know much about who they were as a people. One thing I was supprised to discover through the book is that the hostilities between the Samaritans and Jews became an issue later than in eariler times. The reasons for the differences between the two groups became much clearer to me after reading this book and some others.
