Excellent city/trekking tire with low rolling resistance. Good ride quality, grip but durability is in question.
Great city trekking tire. Well balanced and hearty. Can't say too much about puncture resistance yet, but I did buy these because of glass shards and car tire steel belt fragment punctures in my previous tires. A little heavy, but my previous tire set were bontrager racelites 622x28, The difference in ride quality is really great for the city. Overall not as efficient as my previous set but I foresee a minimal amount of punctures and these give me more confidence in cornering especially across paint lines where my last set did not. Really like the look and the reflective properties which set them apart. For the road you should go with the Continental Gran Prix 4000 ii. Highly recommend!!Revision 5/18/18I am not sure about this tire but time will tell about whether it holds up or not. Unfortunately only after about 40 miles of city trekking, there are splits developing in the tire carcass. My last ride I looked over the tires and the rear appeared to have a line which looked like a string of gum. Nope! The tire cover had a long longitudinal split with some of the underlying carcass string showin, whatever that is. At this point I do like Continental and was hoping for the best but if I only get a few hundred miles out of them for $40 a piece no way!! Continental should lower their price to about $20. I have no choice but continue to ride and keep a close eye on them. I will have that threshold that will make me replace since I don't want to be on the road and have a failure with no way to get home or have to call a cab. I can say that the ride quality is excellent with good grip, its just the durability that is in question. I will post a picture of the split when I get a chance.

Excellent Tire - You Can Get a Lot of Miles on these Tires
5-7-21 3rd Review - I just replaced both the front and back tires today after having them on my bike forever. I last bought the front tire on Oct. 5th, 2019 so, I got a year and 7 months out of the front one. The Rear Tire I replaced in April 1st 2020 so, I got 13 months out of it before the belt wear indicator started to show. I rode on average 120 miles per week last year and I am riding about 110 miles per week this year. These tires are awesome! I don't know the amount of mileage that I got out of them because my app stopped showing me my lifetime mileage but, getting over a year on tires is incredibly GREAT! I can tell you it was a lot of miles and I was surprised that the wear indicator hadn't shown up until recently. I kept looking for it. It totally surprised me that both the front and rear tire wear indicator appeared at the same time. These tires are well worth the money and I will recommend them to everybody. It won't let me add a 2nd review. I will add my latest review at the top of this. This was my 3rd time buying this tire so, now I can do a better review on them. I got 4,500 miles out this tire at 100+ mile bike rides a week, it was about 10 months. I stretched it a little. I started to see the belt showing at about 4,000 miles and I got an extra 5 weeks out of it before the belt was very noticeable. To me, getting 4,000 miles out of tire is GREAT!I replaced my front tire a while ago but, soon after I replaced the rear one. The front tire will last longer for sure. I will probably be ordering a front one in the next couple of months if the belt starts to show and if it's before I get a new bike.I will leave my old message review below.I was a little worried about the tire size when I ordered my Continental tire. I have found out the tire sizes are weird when you order them online and when you go to a local bike shop in the U.S.. For me Continental tires the best thing I found to do is go with the ISO size. My ISO of my original tire was a ISO 37-622 or a 700x35C tire. This tire fit my wheel on my Walmart Schwinn Varsity 2500 bike good!I was looking for an arrow to see if they were directional tires and saw what I am showing in the picture. I wasn't sure I had a lip on the inside of my rim but, I had a small one...phew. This tire worked great on my rear wheel. I thought I would point it out to people that are interested in getting one of these to make sure your wheel has a lip on it before ordering them. You can't go wrong with the right sized Continental tires on your bike. My old City Ride that I replaced this new tire with on the rear got 3400 miles. All of the Continental tires I have had lasted over 3000 miles. As far as speed on this tire, I didn't notice the difference at first and I have put over 100 miles in on my new Contact Speed tire but, I did notice, I wasn't hitting my slowest average time for a 30 mile even on a strong headwind day.

Super-durable tires with excellent performance
I bought these back in February of 2021 but I've waited until I had sufficient experience with them to write a meaningful review. It's now August 2021 and I've put 786 miles on the pair. The reason I bought them was that I was getting several flat tires per year, even though I used what I thought were tough, Kevlar-belted tires including Continental Gatorskiins and Vittoria Rubino Pros.I like the Gator Hardshells a lot. They do the job without any problems. I have not had any flats since installing them. I don't notice any difference in ride quality, acceleration, cornering, rolling resistance, or traction from my other tires. I usually inflate them to 105 psi. The 786 miles I've put on them have been on crummy New Jersey roads with a significant amount of gravel path usage. This worried me at first but I have not had any problems. After 6 months of use, I don't see any signs of wear or deterioration. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that they are INCREDIBLY difficult to get on the rims! I generally find this type of tire (with folding bead) difficult to install, but these were just IMPOSSIBLE for me, even with tools. I ended up taking them to a bike shop, who were able to install them (but even they ruined two tubes before they got it right.) The installation cost me $10 per tire, which I consider worthwhile, but I do add to the cost of the tires in my assessment of them.Keeping in mind their installation difficulties, I like these tires a lot. They have done the job I expected of them (which was mainly to minimize or eliminate flats). I expect to reorder them when the time comes for replacement.
