Amlong Crystal4 inch Globe Paperweight with Gift Box

If you are looking for a pretty globe to sit on a desk — and don't care about accuracy — this is a good one: 5-stars. However, it is inaccurate as a globe.After an international trip of a lifetime, I became aware of how inaccurate flat maps are and how this distorts our perspective. So, I decided to look for a small globe for my office. I settled on this one. The crystal and the etching are beautiful, but I began to notice that, like so many flat maps, the Northern Hemisphere is "oversized." On this 4 inch globe, it is nearly 3/4" farther from the North Pole to the Equator than it is from the Equator to the South Pole. This makes the continents of the Northern Hemisphere much larger than they should be when compared to South America, Africa, and etc. Said the other way, South America and Africa are much smaller on this globe than they really are. Flat maps commonly do this — I didn't realize that it was even possible on a globe.So, as a pretty bobble, it is great. As a globe, not so much.

Beautiful quality crystal! Get the light base too

The crystal ball arrived with a scratch on top and the box was badly torn. I returned it and ordered a second one. This time the ball had no defects but the box came in a worse shape.More care should be put on shipping a gift box.

Just what it looked like on screen love it

This is the very nice small desk globe, the glass is very clear, the etch work is precise, and of good quality, it is heavy, I had to reordered cause i received a couple with rub marks and scratches, so they could package them better, but if you get a good one you will be very pleased. It is a nice addition to any any desk.
