Mercer has a solid rep for durable, affordable, functional cuttlery in culinary schools and restaurants. This knife surpases my expectations in my home kitchen as a bread knife and other. I use it to slice small melons, tomatoes and even (don't laugh) cutting sausage rolls into patties. I think it would be a great knife for a bread station in a restaurant due to it's durability, ergonomic shape and ability to keep getting the job done!

This knife was recommended in a FB group that I am in because it will easily cut through sourdough bread. They were correct!. If you have never tried to cut sourdough, it can be a challenge because if its crispy crust but soft inside. This knife worked perfectly and didn't crush my loaf in the process. So glad that I bought it.

A bread knife is designed for what it is named for - cutting bread. The teeth are shaped to cut the bread rather than allowing the bread to roll creating a sloppy cut and making a big mess. The handle is offset to the blade making it easier to use without busting your knuckles on the cutting board or counter top. I have used this knife to make vertical and horizontal cuts, both much easier done than when using a steak knife or ham slicer.

I was disappointed with this knife in spite of the good reviews. I didn’t find it sharp enough. Once it cuts through the crust, it sort of hacks its way through the interior of the loaf. I’m experienced with the sawing motion needed when slicing bread, but this knife just wasn’t up to the task.

No es muy bonito pero si muy funcional y el precio es excelente, corta muy bien sin desmigar el pan aun cuando está caliente. Buen filo y ergonómico.

The media could not be loaded.  Teniendo en cuenta el precio, es un gran cuchillo. Leí comentarios negativos que no comprendo, la verdad. El cuchillo tiene un precio muy ajustado y corta muy bien mo se le puede pedir mucho más. Además, el mango es ergonómico y cortar pan (especialmente barras y hogazas) me parece súper cómodo. El único dato algo negativo para mi gusto es el grosor de la hoja, pero ya digo que en este rango se precio no se puede pedir más si buscas calidad. Por un precio mayor, podemos encontrar más finos que no se te partan o doblen, pero en este eango se precio me parece más difícil. Lo recomiendo.

This slices through bread almost as good as it slices through fingers. Very good for my home made sourdough but please be careful when using as I almost took the top of my finger off. I write this review while waiting for plastic surgery to repair the damage. 10/10
